25. Modelo de valorização de areas exploratorias com base nas licitações brasileiras
The concession process for oil and gas exploration through competitive bidding marks a significant step in the opening of Brazil?s petroleum sector. The range of opportunities on offer is considerable with most of the petroleum basins being represented. So far, since 1999, five bid rounds for oil and gas have taken place in Brazil where 88 blocks have been b

26. As cooperativas de trabalho como forma de intermediação de mão-de-obra e causa de subtração de direitos de trabalhadores intermediados
The object of this work is focused on the treatment of the labor legal system, exempting the workmanship intermediated by labor cooperatives as a form of tercerization mostly increased on this millennium passage, and that has characterized the actual model of organization of the production. The exam of the question starts with the retrospective of the social

27. Arrendamento e acesso a terra no Brasil

29. Transplantation: The relatives' view
The following short contributions add to the debate on transplantation: one describes the distress of a woman recently widowed when asked for the organs of her dead husband for transplantation, and the other the eagerness with which a boy awaits the death of a potential kidney donor - not a heartless emotion but the longing for a new lease of life.

30. Identification and cloning of the genetic determinant that encodes for the K88ac adherence antigen.
Strains of Escherichia coli capable of causing diarrhea in young pigs are often able to proliferate in the upper small intestine of the infected animal due to the presence of a specific surface antigen, K88. The genetic determinants for K88 antigen production and the ability to utilize the trisaccharide raffinose (Raf) are carried on a 50-megadalton plasmid.

31. Riboregulation in Escherichia coli: DsrA RNA acts by RNA:RNA interactions at multiple loci
DsrA is an 87-nt untranslated RNA that regulates both the global transcriptional silencer and nucleoid protein H-NS and the stationary phase and stress response sigma factor RpoS (σs). We demonstrate that DsrA acts via specific RNA:RNA base pairing interactions at the hns locus to antagonize H-NS translation. We also give evidence that supports a role for R

32. A trans-acting RNA as a control switch in Escherichia coli: DsrA modulates function by forming alternative structures
DsrA is an 87-nucleotide regulatory RNA of Escherichia coli that acts in trans by RNA–RNA interactions with two different mRNAs, hns and rpoS. DsrA has opposite effects on these transcriptional regulators. H-NS levels decrease, whereas RpoS (σs) levels increase. Here we show that DsrA enhances hns mRNA turnover yet stabilizes rpoS mRNA, either directly or

34. Effect of chronic beta-adrenergic receptor blockade in congestive cardiomyopathy.
Adrenergic beta-blocking agents were given to 7 patients with advanced congestive cardiomyopathy who had tachycardia at rest (98 plus or minus 13 beats/min). The patients were on beta-adrenergic receptor blockade for 2 to 12 months (average 5-4 months). One patient was given alprenolol 50 mg twice daily and the other patients were given practolol 50 to 400 m

35. In vivo and in vitro synthesis of adenovirus type 2 early proteins.
The synthesis of adenovirus type 2 (Ad2)-induced early polypeptides was examined in vivo and in vitro by a combination of sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis alone and specific immunoprecipitation followed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Analysis of total [35S]methionine-labeled polypeptides synthesized in

36. A Mutant Arabidopsis Heterotrimeric G-Protein β Subunit Affects Leaf, Flower, and Fruit Development
A genetic screen was performed to find new mutants with an erecta (er) phenotype and to identify genes that may function with ER, a receptor-like kinase. These mutants were named elk (for erecta-like) and were placed into five complementation groups. We positionally cloned ELK4 and determined that it encodes AGB1, a putative heterotrimeric G-protein β subun
