13. Morphogenesis and structural characteristics of Andropógon grass and Xaraés palisade grass submitted to three cutting heights / Morfogênese e características estruturais dos capins Andropógon e Xaraés submetidos a três alturas de corte
The objective of this study was to evaluate morphogenetic and structural characteristics of Andropogon gayanus cv. Planaltina and Brachiaria brizantha cv. Xaraés submitted to three cutting heights when the sward reached 95 % of light interception during the regrowth time. The experiment was carried out at Animal Science Department at UFV, in Viçosa/MG, fro

14. Study of Cerrado physiognomies with Hyperion-EO-1 data / Estudo de fitofisionomias de Cerrado com dados do sensor Hyperion-EO-1
The study of the Brazilian savanna physiognomies (Cerrado) using remote sensing data is still a challenge due to floristic and structural diversity, variation in phenological response to precipitation, relationships with other biomes in the transition zones, and to fire and resultant effects. Because of these factors, some physiognomies are not separable in

15. Padrão de venação e epiderme foliar de espécies de lauraceae juss do Distrito Federal, Brasil
Eighteen Lauraceae species, occurrent in Distrito Federal Brazil, had their leaf blades examined with the aim to assess the general characters usually considered in studies about epidermis and leaf architecture beyond proposing the use of additional characters. For the venation patterns analysis, some characters were proposed as well as the distancing betwee

16. Influence of the native microbiota and of physical- chemical factors in adhesion of Salmonella Enteritidis in lettuces of hydroponic and conventional sistems / Influência da microbiota natural e de fatores físico-químicos na adesão de Salmonella Enteritidis em alface de cultivo hidropônico e convencional
Adhesion of Salmonella Enteritidis in lettuces leaves of hidroponic and convencional systems was evaluated in reason of the native microbiota, with or without sanitization with chlorinated organic compound and vegetal roughness, using Atomic Force Microscopy. Besides, surfaces hydrophobicities of the lettuce leaves and S. Enteritidis were determined, through

17. Influência da geometria de iluminação e do ângulo de visada na resposta espectral da cultura do feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) / Radiation geometry and viewing angle influence on the spectral response of bean crop (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
The study of the spectral behavior of crops, through field radiometry, contributes to a better precision in models generated by remote sensing, when they are used to estimate and analyze crops agronomic variables. Once sensors aboard of satellites are able to acquire images under different viewing angles and at different times of the day, it is necessary t

18. Caracterização anatômica de FILGUEIRASIA ARENICOLA (McClure) Guala (POACEAE: BAMBUSOIDEAE: ARTHROSTYLIDIINAE)
The genus Filgueirasia (McClure) Guala belongs to the sub-family Bambusoideae is composed of two species, Filgueirasia arenicola (McClure) Guala, and Filgueirasia cannavieira (Álvaro da Silveira) Guala, which are endemic of Brazilian Cerrado. The objective of this study is to characterize morpho-anatomically the vegetative organs of three populations of F.

19. Sward structure, light interception and herbage acummulation of marandu grass swards submitted to grazing intensities by continuous stocking regimes. / Estrutura do dossel, interceptação luminosa e acúmulo de forragem em pastos de Capim-Marandu submetidos a alturas de pastejo por meio de lotação contínua.
In a pastoral ecossystem the interception of incident radiation is the first step of a sequence of events that results in herbage production. Several are the factors interfering on the light interception process including sward leaf area index, structure and architecture. The objective of this experiment was to study sward struture, light interception and he

20. Produção de forragem de capins do gênero Panicum e modelagem de respostas produtivas e morfofisiológicas em função de variáveis climáticas. / Forage yield of Panicum grasses and modeling yield, morphological and physiological traits in response to climatic variables.
The brazilian livestock industry is based on the use of tropical pastures with high production potential which benefits from favorable environmental conditions over the year. However, the seasonal pattern of climatic conditions, mainly temperature and daylength, concentrates most of the annual forage accumulation during the spring and summer. Thus, knowing t

21. Estudo do desempenho animal e produção do capim Tanzânia (Panicum maximum, Jacq.) em um sistema rotacionado de pastejo sob irrigação em três níveis de resíduo pós-pastejo. / Study of the animal performance and herbage production of irrigated tanzania grass (Panicum maximum, Jacq.) in a rotational grazing system under three post-grazing residues levels.
This research was to evaluate effect of the post-grazing pasture mass on morphological characteristics, herbage production and animal performance and productivity from irrigated and rotationally grazed system with Panicum maximum Jacq. cv. Tanzânia. The experimental period was October 30/1999 to January 03/2001 and established at Escola Superior de Agricult

22. Influência do solo de fundo e da geometria da radiação na resposta espectral da cultura do feijão / Soil background and radiation geometry influence on spectral response in bean crop
The objective of this study is to understand the relationships among the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), the PVI (Perpendicular Vegetation Index) the SAVI (Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index) and the illumination geometry, the view angle geometry and the soil background. In order to observe the influence of these parameters, we setup a field exper

23. Penetration of Stomata by Liquids: Dependence on Surface Tension, Wettability, and Stomatal Morphology 1
Wettability of the leaf surface, surface tension of the liquid, and stomatal morphology control penetration of stomata by liquids. The critical surface tension of the lower leaf surface of Zebrina purpusii Brückn. was estimated to be 25 to 30 dyne cm−1. Liquids having a surface tension less than 30 dyne cm−1 gave zero contact angle on the leaf surface a

24. Influence of Water Relations and Temperature on Leaf Movements of Rhododendron Species 1
Rhododendron maximum L. and R. Catawbiense L. are subcanopy evergreen shrubs of the eastern United States deciduous forest. Field measurements of climate factors and leaf movements of these species indicated a high correlation between leaf temperature and leaf curling; and between leaf water potential and leaf angle. Laboratory experiments were performed to
