1. The Contribution of Meteorological Parameters and the COVID-19 Partial Lockdown on Air Quality in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This study evaluated the pollutant levels (NO2, SO2, CO, and O3), air quality index (AQI) and the influence of meteorological variables and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on the air quality in Rio de Janeiro. The data set used comprises periods before (March-April, 2019) and during pandemic (March-April, 2020). According to the AQI results, on most

2. Performance analysis of the beneficiation process of bauxite from the Juruti Mine. Industrial sampling and performance evaluation
Abstract Sampling campaigns were conducted at the industrial bauxite wash circuit of the Juruti Bauxite Mine in Pará, Brazil. The beneficiation circuit consisted of crushing, scrubber washing, wet screening, hydrocyclone classification, and fltration. Considering laboratory processing of samples and statistical analyses of historical operation databases, ma

3. Obtainment of a new metal matrix composite from the recycling of UNS S31803 duplex stainless steel by powder metallurgy
Abstract The purpose of circular economy is to maximize resources efficiency. With the increase in consumption of raw materials, energy and waste generation, recycling is necessary for environmental and industrial reasons. Thus, the powder metallurgy, together with mechanical milling, stands as a new method for scraps recycling. This study aimed to produce U

4. A review on the ceramic additive manufacturing technologies and availability of equipment and materials
Abstract Ceramic additive manufacturing allows the fabrication of small series of complex parts without the high costs of molds usually associated with traditional ceramic processing. Although research into ceramic 3D printing by all technologies started back in the 90s, its industrial application is still quite restricted when compared to polymers and metal

5. Sustainable and Reusable Sulfonic Acid-Functionalized Task-Specific Ionic Liquid Catalysts for Multicomponent Reactions. A Review
Improvements in Sustainable Organic Synthesis are usually related to the investigation of less hazardous, non-corrosive and renewable materials, as well as waste prevention, energy efficiency, solvent-free reactions, and the development of efficient reusable catalysts. In this context, multicomponent reactions emerged as important strategies for the rapid an

6. Production of nanostructured crystalline composite using residual ashes from flocculated sludge burning process in a poultry slaughterhouse wastewater treatment system
Abstract Nanostructured crystalline composite (activated carbon) was synthesized from residual ashes of the burning process of the sludge generated in the flotation step of a poultry slaughterhouse and was used for Allura red dye adsorption. The ashes were chemically activated using two types of reagents, H2O2 and H3PO4, and the structure, morphology, and su

7. Simple and fast process using hydrochloric acid for producing synthetic zinc-rich stevensite
Abstract In the last decades, clays have been used in sectors such as health and cosmetics. This requires products that are increasingly pure and present homogeneous properties, hardly found in natural clays. The use of synthetic clays can be a solution. For this, it is necessary to explore techniques for their production. The main focus of this study was to

9. Development and Chemical Characterization of Pequi Pericarp Flour (Caryocar brasiliense Camb.) and Effect of in vitro Digestibility on the Bioaccessibility of Phenolic Compounds
The pequi pericarp corresponds to the largest portion of the fruit and has a high nutritional value, but it is discarded as an agro-industrial residue. The present study aimed to prepare and characterize flours from the pequi pericarp in terms of their proximate composition, its antioxidant potential before and after the in vitro digestibility process and ch

11. OPTIMIZATION OF BREWING WASTE’S (TRUB) PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS EXTRACTION BY ULTRASOUND ASSISTED USING RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY
The brewing waste, also known as trub, is an abundant by-product of the brewing industry. Such material presents high levels of phenolic compounds, which promote antioxidant, antimicrobial and antifungal effects, turning the trub economically attractive. In this study, the trub’s phenolic compounds were extracted by ultrasound-assisted extraction technolog

12. Agroindustry Residues as a Source for Cellulose Nanofibers Production
Our study was motivated by the large amount of crop residues produced in Brazil, which represent underutilized waste biomass and a serious threat to the environment because of the landfilling. For example, even though the corn crop is not popular in Brazil, it is produced in the area of around 18-20 million hectares with an average production of 5-6 t ha-1.
