1. Utility of immunoglobulin isotypes against LID-1 and NDO-LID for, particularly IgG1, confirming the diagnosis of multibacillary leprosy
BACKGROUND Leprosy remains a health problem in many countries, with difficulties in diagnosis resulting in delayed treatment and more severe disabilities. Antibodies against several Mycobacterium leprae antigens have, however, shown value as diagnostic and/or prognostic markers. OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to evaluate serum immunoglobulin

2. Isotipos IgG e IgM anti-dsDNA em pacientes com lúpus eritematoso sistêmico
IgG anti-dsDNA antibodies are associated to lupus nephritis. Recent data suggest that IgM isotype is nephroprotector. We evaluated the frequency of IgG anti-dsDNA in patients with Systemic lupus erythemathosus (SLE) and its relation between IgG/IgM proportion and clinical manifestations of the disease. This transversal study included 137 SLE patients accordi

Revaccination with BCG modulates cytokine production against antigens of Mycobacterium leprae in contacts under 15 years of leprosy patients.
Studies in different populations have shown that vaccination with BCG provides partial protection against leprosy. However, need of boost BCG vaccination and your impact in response immune against antigens of Mycobacterium leprae is poorly understood, mainly in children who are contacts of these patients with leprosy, and constitute population of risk for il

5. A função da IL-10 na paracoccidioidomise pulmonar murina. / The role of IL-10 in murine pulmonary paracoccidioidomycosis.
Cellular immunity is the main defense mechanism of hosts infected by the Paracoccidioide brasiliensis (Pb), a dimorphic fungus that causes the most important systemic mycosis in Latin America. IFN-g activated macrophages participate in this activity that is antagonized by IL-10 an anti-inflammatory cytokine. Both, in the human pathology a

6. Mecanismos inflamatórios e imunológicos na síndrome de Down / Inflammatory and immunological mechanism in Downs syndrome
In recent years there has been an increase in life expectancy of individuals with Down´s syndrome (DS), with death causes differ from the general population. Some studies have shown that the immune response differs throughout life with changes related to aging. The RCAN1 gene (regulator of calcineurin type 1), located in the q22.12 region of chromosome 21 i

7. Comparison of serological responses in two different populations with pulmonary tuberculosis
Observational studies on the humoural immune responses of the Warao indigenous people from Delta Amacuro, an isolated area, were compared with urban residents of the Venezuelan capital. Mycobacterium tuberculosis-specific reactivities (IgM, IgE, sIgA, IgG and IgG subclasses) were measured by ELISA using PPD and 38-kDa M. tuberculosis antigens. A total of 294

8. Detecção de anticorpos IgG, IgM e IgA anti-Toxoplasma gondii em amostras de soro e leite de mulheres puérperas
Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite that is able to infect many species throughout the world. It is estimated that plus one billion of people are infected worldwide. Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in women at childbearing age ranges from 4% to 100%. The aims of the present study were to detect IgG, IgM and IgA antibodies ag

9. The effect of treatment on the age-antibody relationship in children infected with Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma haematobium
The effect of praziquantel treatment on the age-antibody relationship was studied in 174 children aged between 6 and 17 years from a schistosome endemic area in Zimbabwe. The children were co-infected with Schistosoma mansoni and S. haematobium with infection prevalences of 74% and 53% respectively. Antibody levels for the isotypes IgA, IgE, IgM, IgG1, IgG2,

10. Isotype specific immune responses in murine experimental toxocariasis
In this work, a murine experimental model of toxocariasis has been developed in BALB/c, C57BL/10 and C3H murine strains orally inoculated with 4,000 Toxocara canis embryonated eggs, in order to investigate the isotype-specific immune responses against excretory-secretory antigens from larvae. T. canis specific IgG+M, IgM, IgG, IgA, IgG1, IgG2a and IgG3 were

11. Successive switching of antibody isotypes expressed within the lines of a B-cell clone.
An antigen-stimulated B cell can differentiate to form a clone of cells that secrete antibodies with the IgM, IgG1, and IgA isotypes. We have examined the sequence of isotype expression by proliferating cell lines within a clone by directly staining for immunoglobulin in the cytoplasm of clonal daughter cells. All of the cones selected for analysis originall

12. Correlation between clinical features of systemic lupus erythematosus and levels of antihistone antibodies of the IgG, IgA, and IgM isotypes.
An attempt was made to define the correlation between the clinical features of systemic lupus erythematosus and levels of circulating antihistone antibodies of the IgG, IgA, and IgM isotypes. Serum antibody levels were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) on serial blood samples (n = 4) from 25 patients, representing five subgroups: (a) re
