13. Application of Short Fibers Reinforced Composites in Power Transmission Coupling
Abstract In this study the use of short glass, carbon and hybrid glass-carbon fibers reinforced polymeric composites in power transmission coupling is investigated. The presented work is generalized to thermoplastic and thermoset polymeric matrix composites. The effects of the constituents weight percentages, and average fibers length on the composite tensil

14. FIXAÇÃO DE CO2 EM EFLUENTE SALINO DE INDÚSTRIA PETROQUÍMICA
In various industrial processes, such as the process of obtaining potassium by solution mining or in the oil industry, fuels are burnt concurrently to the formation of saline effluents. The opportunity to sequester carbon through capturing the CO2 from the flue gas by carbonation of these effluents and reducing the potential of scaling of the water is eviden

15. Tensile properties of novel carbon/glass hybrid thermoplastic composite rods under static and fatigue loading
ABSTRACT Novel carbon/glass hybrid thermoplastic composite rods have been developed consisting of a PAN-based carbon fiber, an E-glass fiber, and a thermoplastic matrix. Three types of hybrid rods with different carbon/glass ratios were then fabricated. The surface and cross-sectional morphologies of the hybrid rods were observed using a digital microscope.

19. Thermal processes for lead removal from the funnel glass of CRT monitors
The disposal of CRT monitors increases each year, generating millions of tons of waste containing various types of materials. The glass present in CRT tubes displayed about 20%-25% of lead oxide. If improperly disposed of, this glass can be leached directly in nature or may cause environmental contamination, especially with lead. Because of this leaching pos

20. VIDROS DE OXICARBETO DE SILÍCIO OBTIDOS A PARTIR DE POLISSILOXANOS
AbstractSilicon oxycarbide glasses (SiOC) are a class of amorphous materials with a similar silica glass structure, in which oxygen atoms are partially replaced by tetracoordenated carbon atoms. The presence of carbon atoms covalently bound to the silicon atoms creates a more interconnected structure with better strength, and excellent chemical stability tha

21. Shear Strengthening of RC Deep Beams with Sprayed Fiber-reinforced Polymer Composites (SFRP): Part 2 Finite Element Analysis
AbstractThis paper presents the finite element analysis conducted on SFRP strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams. The analysis variables included SFRP material (glass and carbon), SFRP thickness (3 mm and 5 mm), SFRP configuration and strength of concrete. The externally applied SFRP technique is significantly effective to enhance the ultimate load

22. Kinetic Investigation of Thermal Formation Processes of SiOC Glasses Derived from C-Containing Hybrid Polymeric Networks
In this study, hybrid polymeric networks were prepared by hydrosilylation reaction as precursors to silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) glass. The polymeric networks were prepared from poly(methylsiloxane) (PMS) and divinylbenzene (DVB) in the 80:20 and 20:80 (PMS/DVB) compositions, with or without activated charcoal (AC), which was used as additional carbon source.
