13. Efeitos do pisoteio humano experimental sobre a vegetação em fragmentos de Floresta Pluvial Tropical Atlântica, São Paulo, Brasil / Experimental human trampling effect on the vegetation in fragments of the Atlantic Rain Forest, São Paulo, Brazil
The growing flow of visitors at natural areas, with the consequent pressure over natural resources caused an increase on concerns about the produced negative impacts. Recreation Ecology studies the impacts of recreational activities at visited environments, aiming to provide results which are useful for the management of these impacts. The effects of human t

14. Modelo de trafico Wimax basado en series de tiempo para pronosticar valores futuros de trafico
The objective of this research is to demonstrate that the time series are an excellent tool for modeling of data traffic on networks Wimax. To achieve this goal we used the Box-Jenkins method, which is described in this article. The traffic modeling Wimax through correlated models such as time series allow you to adjust much of the dynamic behavior of the da

15. Structural coverage analysis of test sets derived from formal specifications: a comparative study in the space applications context / Análise de cobertura de critérios de teste estruturais a partir de conjuntos derivados de especificações formais: um estudo comparativo no contexto de aplicações espaciais
Testing techniques can be divided, in high level, in code-based ones (white box) and specification based ones (black box). None of them are complete as they intend to identify different kinds of faults. The use of them together can increase the application confidence level. Thus, it is important to investigate the relationship between structural testing tech

16. Avaliação do complexo regulador do sistema público municipal de serviços de saúde / Evaluation of the regulator complex of the municipal public system of health services
This study aimed to evaluate the publicity of the implementation of the Regulator Complex (CR) of the Municipal Public System of Health Services for the care network of Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil. The health evaluation provided the theoretical framework and the specific objectives were: evaluate the CR scope according to the coverage dimension in 2004, 2005

17. Uso da base de dados decundária KOG como ferramenta para caracterização de expressão gênica e mineração de dados em projetos transcriptoma
A set of new results, techniques and tools are presented in this work for data mining and to help in the analysis of Expressed Sequence Tags (EST) generated by transcriptome projects. The secondary database KOG was utilized as a tool in the alignment and automatic annotation of ESTs from four organisms, A. thaliana, C. elegans, D. melanogaster e H. sapiens.

18. Caracterização agronômica de espécies de Crotalaria L. em diferentes condições edafoclimáticas e contribuição da adubação verde com C. juncea no cultivo orgânico de brássicas em sistema plantio direto. / Agronomic evaluation of Crotalaria species in different environmental conditions and the contribution of green manuring with C. juncea on organic production of cabbage and cauliflower under no-tillage system.
The objective of this work was to evaluate growth of Crotalaria species in different soil and climate conditions and to investigate the contribution of Crotalaria juncea, as a cover crop, on organic cultivation of cabbage and cauliflower, under no-tillage system. Five experiments were conducted. Three of them referred to the performance of Crotalaria species

19. Desenvolvimento de marcadores moleculares EST-SSRs e mapeamento funcional em cana-de-açucar (Saccharum spp.) / Development of EST-SSR molecular markers and functional mapping in sugarcane
Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is one of the most important cash crops, highly contributing towards the production of raw sugar and bioethanol produced worldwide. Even though Brazil is the major producer, sugar yield is considered low. Breeding programs for the attainment of new improved sugarcane varieties, which are more productive and more resistant to plague

20. Edaphic attributes in cultivated pasture areas in the northwest of the State of Rio de Janeiro / Atributos sedáficos em áreas de pastagem plantada em relevo movimentado no noroeste do Rio de Janeiro
One of the largest challenges of the world agriculture is to increase the productivity of several crops, to obtain larger return on the investments, with sustainability. For that, it is necessary to study how to minimize negative effects of agricultural handling and alterations in the soil functional and structural properties, and the behavior of the system

21. Density, proportion, and dendritic coverage of retinal ganglion cells of the common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus jacchus)
We performed a quantitative analysis of M and P cell mosaics of the common-marmoset retina. Ganglion cells were labeled retrogradely from optic nerve deposits of Biocytin. The labeling was visualized using horseradish peroxidase (HRP) histochemistry and 3-3'diaminobenzidine as chromogen. M and P cells were morphologically similar to those found in Old- and N

22. Predicting Protein Function by Genomic Context: Quantitative Evaluation and Qualitative Inferences
Various new methods have been proposed to predict functional interactions between proteins based on the genomic context of their genes. The types of genomic context that they use are Type I: the fusion of genes; Type II: the conservation of gene-order or co-occurrence of genes in potential operons; and Type III: the co-occurrence of genes across genomes (phy

23. Reconstruction of the Central Carbohydrate Metabolism of Thermoproteus tenax by Use of Genomic and Biochemical Data
The hyperthermophilic, facultatively heterotrophic crenarchaeum Thermoproteus tenax was analyzed using a low-coverage shotgun-sequencing approach. A total of 1.81 Mbp (representing 98.5% of the total genome), with an average gap size of 100 bp and 5.3-fold coverage, are reported, giving insights into the genome of T. tenax. Genome analysis and biochemical st

24. Mapping analysis of the Xylella fastidiosa genome
A cosmid library was made of the 2.7 Mb genome of the Gram-negative plant pathogenic bacterium Xylella fastidiosa and analysed by hybridisation mapping. Clones taken from the library as well as genomic restriction fragments of rarely cutting enzymes were used as probes. The latter served as a backbone for ordering the initial map contigs and thus facilitated
