25. An investigation on graphene and nanoclay effects on hybrid nanocomposites post fire dynamic behavior
This paper deals with the post fire behavior of hybrid nanocomposites under dynamic loadings. A series of tests were performed to investigate how nanoparticles (i.e. nanoclay and graphene nanosheets) affect the post-fire overall composite behavior. Carbon fiber/epoxy-nanoclay and carbon fiber/epoxy-graphene nanosheets were manufactured. The nanoparticles emp

26. The use of piezoelectric stress stiffening to enhance buckling of laminated plates
A technique for enhancement of buckling loads of composite plates is proposed. The technique relies on using stress stiffening to create a non-zero tensile force acting along the plate plane which ultimately permits the application of higher external compressive forces that lead to traditional buckling instabilities. The idea is to completely restrain the pl

27. ANALYSIS EX VIVO BIOMECHANICS OF TWO METHODS OF OSTEOSYNTHESIS OF PELVIS IN DOGS / ANÁLISE BIOMECÂNICA EX VIVO DE DOIS MÉTODOS DE OSTEOSSÍNTESE DE PELVE EM CÃES
Approximately 25% of all fractures in dogs involve the pelvis, of which 18-46% are iliac fractures. Conservative treatment can be performed in simple cases where minimum displacement occurs fractured fragments. However when there is severe displacement of the fragments, pelvic canal narrowing and involvement of weight bearing, surgical fixation is indicated.

28. Efect of non-affected lower limb constraint and seat height on the motor performance of hemiparetics post stroke during sit-to-stand / Efeito da restrição do membro inferior não-afetado e a altura do assento sobre o desempenho motor de hemiparéticos durante o movimento de sentado para de pé
Hemiparesis following stroke reduces the ability to use the involved lower extremity during the sit-to-stand (STS) transfer, thus affecting the performance. This study investigated in hemiparetic subjects the combined effects of the non-affected lower limb (NA) constraints by supporting it on a step and the seat height for the weight-bearing on the affected

29. Comparative biomechanical evaluation of flexion resistance between absorbable and metalic plate and screws used in mandibular body poliuretane / Estudo comparativo da resistencia mecanica a flexão de placas e parafusos reabsorviveis e metalicos utilizados em osteotomias de corpo em mandibulas de poliuretano
The meaning of this study was to evaluate and compare the resistance to flexion between metallic and absorbable plates and screws for rigid internal fixation. It was used synthetic hemimandible of polyurethane, in which one was performed a straight cut between second premolar and first molar, simulating a breaking of mandibular body. It was established two g

30. Transmission of composite polymerization contraction force through a flowable composite and a resin-modified glass ionomer cement
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the individual contraction force during polymerization of a composite resin (Z-250), a flowable composite (Filtek Flow, FF) and a resin-modified glass ionomer cement (Vitrebond, VB), and the transmission of Z-250 composite resin polymerization contraction force through different thicknesses of FF and VB. The experime

31. Electrodeposition of nickel plates on copper substrates using PC y PRC
Electrodeposition processes using direct current (DC) require the use of additives to control deposit structure and properties as well as current distribution. The Pulse Current (PC) and Pulse Reverse Current (PRC) techniques improve the properties of deposits based on an appropriate selection of the parameters involved. This research evaluates the influence

32. Casimir force in confined polymer blends or ternary polymer solutions
This paper is devoted to a review of recent progresses concerning the computation of the Casimir force between two parallel plates delimitating a polymer blend or a ternary polymer solution (with a good solvent). We assume that, close to the consolute point, one or the two polymers of the mixture are strongly attracted by the plates (critical adsorption). Fo

33. Body weight distribution under the rearfoot and forefoot wearing high heels shoes and block simulators / Body weight distribution under the rearfoot and forefoot wearing high heels shoes and block simulators / Estudo da distribuição do peso corporal entre retropé e antepé em blocos simuladores e calçados de salto / Estudo da distribuição do peso corporal entre retropé e antepé em blocos simuladores e calçados de salto
The aim of this work was to investigate the relation of the vertical component of the ground reaction forces and the plantar pressure distribution during standing position, acting under the forefoot and the rearfoot, using high heel shoes and high heel simulators (wooden blocks of different heights and angles of heel support). The subjects were 30 symptom-fr

34. Potencials and electric fields inside and outside resistive conductors carrying steady currents / Potenciais e campos eletricos dentro e fora de condutores resistivos com correntes constantes
In Chapter 1 we present an introduction about the electric field inside and outside resistive conductors carrying steady currents. We also discuss the distribution of surface charges that maintains the current fiow and its relation with these electric fields. We present some experiments related with these electric fields outside conductors with steady curren

36. Extração de biomoleculas em sistemas de duas fases aquosas convencionais e com polimeros termossensiveis
The semi-continuous and continuous extraction of a model enzyme, xylanase, in spray, sieve plates and packed columns were investigated using aqueous two-phase systems composed by polyethylene glycol (PEG) 4000 and potassium phosphate. For the spray column, the dispersed phase hold-up and overall mass transfer coefficients (Ko a) were evaluated for different
