RESUMO

The purpose of this exploratory descriptive study is describe and compare the dynamics (1 and 2 peak force, weight acceptance rate, and mid support force) and time-space characteristics (cadence, step length, single limb stance time, and double support time) of girls gait between 10 and 12 years old, with and without shoes at 4 Km/h. 35 girls participated of the study with their parents authorization, without history of lower extremity immobilization and/or surgeries. The data were collected at Biomechanics Lab of Santa Catarina State University using the following procedures: a) interview; b) subjects anthropometric measures using tape measure, paquimeter, and digital balance; c) treadmill subjects adaptation; d) randomness time-space and dynamic gait data acquisition with and without shoes using the Kistler Gaitway 9810S1x System (treadmill) at 400Hz frequency and 12s of acquisition time. The dynamic and time-space data were grouped according to girls age and analyzed by descriptive statistics and ANOVA one way, followed by Scheffé posthoc Test, as required. Throughout results analysis was possible conclude that; (1) gait dynamics and time-space characteristics are practically symmetrical, and most of them are homogeneus (Excepting weight acceptance rate in dynamics and double support time, in the time-space characteristics), and dynamics present equivalent values to literature; (2) Just time-space characteristics (barefoot step length, cadence with shoes and double support time with and without shoes) showed alterations with age increase, all them between 10 and 12 years old, and (3) the use of shoes bring modifications both for dynamics (middle support force) as well for time-space characteristics (step length, cadence and double support time).
