1. Biological Nitrogen Fixation by Legumes and N Uptake by Coffee Plants
ABSTRACT Green manures are an alternative for substituting or supplementing mineral nitrogen fertilizers. The aim of this study was to quantify biological N fixation (BNF) and the N contribution derived from BNF (N-BNF) to N levels in leaves of coffee intercropped with legumes grown on four family farms located in the mountainous region of the Atlantic Fores

3. Agronomical performance of common bean cropped under agroecological management system.
On common bean cropping, green manures may reduce or eliminate the use of N fertilizers, ensuring the conservation of the natural resources and reducing production costs. Besides, the use of green manure associated to conservative management practices increase soil organic matter, which contribute to a more sustainable agriculture.

4. Effect of green manure species and their sowing dates on common bean crop.
Nitrogen is the most required nutrient by common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Although common bean can obtain this nutrient from atmosphere by the biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) process, the fixed amounts are not enough to supply all plant necessities. Under agroecological production systems, part of the required N could be supplied by green manures as

5. Adubação mineral e inoculação a base de Pseudomonas fluorescens na cultura do milho
Aiming to increase the efficient use of fertilizer in agricultural systems while maintaining the ecological balance, the interest was increased by manipulating Rhizobacteria, showing great potential and practicality of use. The study aimed to evaluate the agronomic performance of crop and chemical composition of maize to second crop subjected to inoculation

6. Eficiência de absorção de fósforo por diversas espécies de adubos verdes e aproveitamento desse nutriente pelas culturas de cana-de-açúcar e de arroz / Efficiency of phosphorus uptake by several species of green manure and use of this nutrient by crops of sugar cane and rice
Integration of green manures species, which immobilize P, with supplying mineral P sources is one of the most promising agronomic practices for improving the availability of P for the main crop in order to recover soil fertility, increasing soil organic matter and thus optimize the efficiency of mineral fertilizers. The objectives of this work was to select

7. Qualidade e decomposiÃÃo de materiais orgÃnicos presentes em propriedades rurais do semi-Ãrido / Quality and decomposition os organic materials found in farms of the semi-arid region of ne Brazil / Qualidade e decomposiÃÃo de materiais orgÃnicos presentes em propriedades rurais do semi-Ãrido / Quality and decomposition os organic materials found in farms of the semi-arid region of ne Brazil
Owners of small farms in the semi-arid region of NE Brazil usually do not use chemical fertilizers to ameliorate soil fertility. Therefore, the nutrients supply for their crops have to rely on soil organic matter mineralization or, in some cases, on the fertilization with animal manure (mostly from cattle or goats). However, the manure produced in these farm

8. Teores de nutrientes no solo, produção de fitomassa e qualidade da pastagem de Tifton 85, produzida em área submetida à aplicação de dejetos suínos
The utilization of swine dejections as fertilizer in cultivated areas with Tifton 85 pasture, has been a common practice realized by producers in the west of Paraná state, Brazil, however the number of researches dedicated to the evaluation of this practice is still small. This work was carried out with objective of evaluating the effect of the application

9. TRANSIÇÃO AGROECOLÓGICA EM SISTEMAS DE PRODUÇÃO DE BATATA / AGROECOLOGICAL TRANSITION IN POTATO SYSTEMS PRODUCTION
This work was done as an articulation program between technicians of EMATER-RS, UFSM and FEPAGRO-RS and small farmers of ASBAT. The research aimed to evaluate management practices of the potato production in a systemic approach to increase the environmental and partner-economic sustainability for small farmers and for alimentary security of the southern regi

10. TECHNICAL, ECONOMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF ORGANIC NUTRIENT SOURCES ASSOCIATED WITH SOIL TILLAGE SYSTEMS / ASPECTOS TÉCNICO, ECONÔMICO E AMBIENTAL DO USO DE FONTES ORGÂNICAS DE NUTRIENTES, ASSOCIADAS A SISTEMAS DE PREPARO DO SOLO
The manures have been used as organic nutrient sources in many soil and climatic conditions, and their effects on technical, economic and environmental aspects are dependent on their characteristics and it can be changed by soil tillage. Many studies have been performed to analyse these aspects, however a few of them have analysed the interactions of these t

11. Leaching of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in Diverse Soils under Various Agricultural Management Practices
Application of animal manures to soil as crop fertilizers is an important means for recycling the nitrogen and phosphorus which the manures contain. Animal manures also contain bacteria, including many types of pathogens. Manure pathogen levels depend on the source animal, the animal's state of health, and how the manure was stored or treated before use. Rai
