1. Feed additives can differentially modulate NF-κB (RelA/p65), IGF-1, GLUT2, and SGLT1 gene expression in porcine jejunal explants
ABSTRACT The intestinal gene expression of RelA/p65 (NF-κB), insulin growth factor 1 (IGF-1), glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2), and Na+/dependent glucose transporter 1 (SGLT1) were evaluated in response to benzoic acid, yeast culture, L-glutamine, and oregano essential oil, using an ex vivo model. Six piglets weighing approximately 20 kg each were sacrificed,

2. Effects of sumac and turmeric as feed additives on performance, egg quality traits, and blood parameters of laying hens
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of sumac and turmeric on performance, egg quality traits, and blood parameters of laying hens. Forty Lohman Brown hens at 30 weeks of age were distributed into four groups, consisting of five replicates with two hens in each. The experiment lasted for 42 days. Laying hens were fed different

3. Effects of lines and inoculants on nutritive value and production costs of triticale silages
ABSTRACT The current study was undertaken to investigate the ensilage characteristics in triticale lines treated by inoculants and their interaction on fermentation metabolites and rumen degradability. Costs were estimated for growing and feeding whole-crop triticale lines for animal production. Triticale hybrids were harvested at the dough stage of maturity

4. Prebiotic inulin: Useful dietary adjuncts to manipulate the livestock gut microflora
In recent years, there has been a growing appreciation on the relevance of gastrointestinal microflora in both ruminants and non-ruminants owing to revelation of their role in several physiological functions including digestion, nutrient utilization, pathogen exclusion, gastrointestinal development, immunity system, gut gene expression and quality of animal

6. Efeito da inclusão de açúcar ou inoculante bacteriano na silagem de milho sobre perdas, valor nutricional, eficiência econômica e desempenho de novilhos confinados / Effect of inclusion sugar or bacterial inoculant in corn silage about, losses, nutritional value, economic efficiency and performance of feedlot bulls
The experiment was conducted at the Department of Animal Production (NUPRAN) State University Midwest (UNICENTRO), with the aim of evaluating corn silage with inclusion of sugar or bacterial inoculant, compared with the conventional, about loss, nutritional value, economic efficiency and performance of feedlot bulls. Were evaluated three treatments: T1 - no

7. Essential oils from Brazilian plants as in vitro rumen fermentation modifiers / Óleos essenciais de plantas brasileiras como manipuladores da fermentação ruminal in vitro

8. Avaliação de antimicrobianos como promotores de crescimento via mistura mineral para bovinos de corte em pastejo / Antimicrobial growth promoters in mineral mixtures for grazing beef cattle
Antimicrobials which modifies rumen fermentation can improve economical efficiency of beef cattle grazing systems and reduce its possible impacts on the environment. It was conducted a series of experiments with the objective of evaluating free-choice mineral mixtures as an antimicrobial delivery system for grazing animals. On experiment 1, at Piracicaba-SP,

9. Desempenho e desenvolvimento ruminal de bezerros em sistema de desaleitamento precoce recebendo aditivos alternativos aos antibióticos / Performance and rumen development of calves under early weaning program receiving alternative additives to replace antibiotics
Two studies were conducted to evaluate alternative additives to replace antibiotics on dairy calves production under early-weaning program. On the first trial, the addition of mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) in the diet of dairy calves on performance and plasma parameters indicative of rumen development, as well as the route of administration, milk replacer or

10. Levedura hidrolisada como fonte de nucleotídeos para leitões recém desmamados / Hidrolyzed yeast as source of nucleotides for weanling pigs
The purpose of this work was to evaluate the effects of dietary nucleotide levels on performance, organs morphometry and intestinal histology of weanling pigs. One hundred and forty-four pigs weaned at 21 days of age and 5.80 ± .16 kg initial live weight were used a completely randomized design experiment with six treatments, six replications per treatment

11. Suínos na fase de creche alimentados com rações extrusadas com ou sem flavorizantes : desempenho e digestibilidade / Pigs in the nursery fed diets extruded with or without flavoring: performance and digestibility
As the nutritional demand of pigs in the nursery phase is high, it is necessary the diets are based on ingredients palatable high availability of nutrients. Accordingly, the floating diets may meet the physiological demands of piglets, since the extrusion breaks the physical barriers that surround the granules of ingredients, improving their palatability and
