1. New microsatellite loci for annatto (Bixa orellana), a source of natural dyes from Brazilian Amazonia
Abstract Annatto (Bixa orellana) is a tropical crop native to the Americas with Amazonia as the likely center of origin of domestication. Annatto is important because it produces the dye bixin, which is widely used in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and textile industries. A total of 32 microsatellite loci were isolated from a microsatellite-enriched geno

2. Novel Microsatellite Markers for Brazilian Mangrove Oysters ( Crassostrea gasar ) and their Cross-Amplification in Crassostrea rhizophorae
ABSTRACT A microsatellite CT/GT enriched genomic library was developed for Crassostrea gasar and twelve new polymorphic loci were isolated and characterized. The markers were successfully amplified from 25 individuals of Crassostrea gasar and 11 cross-amplified individuals of Crassostrea rhizophorae. There was no evidence of linkage between loci in either sp

3. Polymorphic information content of SSR markers for Coffea spp.
Thirty-three coffee SSR primers from enriched genomic library with (GT)15 and (AGG)10 repeats were analyzed in 24 coffee tree accessions. Twenty-two primers were polymorphic among accessions; the number of alleles ranged from 2 to 13, with the mean number of 5.1 alleles per primer. PIC values ranged from 0.08 to 0.79. The highest mean PIC values were found f

5. Development and validation of SSR markers for Coffea arabica L.
With the objective of developing new SSR markers for Coffea arabica, two enriched genomic libraries with probes (GT)15 and (AGG)10 were constructed. A total of 835 clones were sequenced and 756 presented good quality sequences. Redundant sequences were observed for 113 clones (14.94%). SSRs were found in 287 clones (38%). An estimated size of 417.5Kb of the

7. Aspectos da demografia do cajueiro-do-campo (Anacardium humile) em áreas de Cerrado do Estado de São Paulo e construção de bibliotecas enriquecidas de microssatélites para a espécie / Demographyc aspects of cajueiro-do-campo (Anacardium humile A St. Hill) in cerrado areas at the State of São Paulo and the construction of the genomic enriched library of microsatellites
Brazilian cerrado is one of the richest and plants endemism biomes, but with a high deforestation in the last decades, resulted in habitats fragmentation and extinction threat of hundreds of plant species. Among these threatened species is Anacardium humile, known as cajuzinho-do-campo, a camephyth plant with a wide distribution through the country, which se

8. Isolamento e caracterização de locos de microssatélite para Neothraupis fasciata, (Emberizidae, Passeriformes, Aves),
Microsatellite molecular markers are small repeated sequences in tanden compound of 1 to 6 nucleotides. Widely used as genetic markers, the microsatellites have a particular attribute that is the high rates of mutation. These molecular markers or are widely used in conservation genetics, population genetics, forensic research, diagnosis of diseases, ecologic

9. PCR-mediated recombination in development of microsatellite markers: mechanism and implications
Protocols for microsatellite-enrichment libraries have been widely applied to several species in order to supply the most informative molecular markers for population and inbreeding studies. One drawback of these protocols is the ratio of designed primer pairs that fail to amplify the expected fragment, even after exhaustive optimization attempts. A possible

11. Development and characterization of polymorphic microsatellite markers for the sweet orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck)
The aims of this study were to develop simple sequence repeat markers (SSRs or microsatellite markers) in citrus and to evaluate the efficiency of these markers for characterization of sweet orange. We developed SSRs from a genomic library of 'Pêra IAC' sweet orange enriched for AG/TC, GT/CA, TCA/AGT and AAC/TTG sequence repeats. We selected 279 sequences f

Variabilidade genetica e estrutura de populações de Cochliomyia hominivorax (Diptera: Calliphoridae) : uma nova perspectiva atraves de marcadores microssatelites / Genetic diversity and population structure in the new world screw-worm, Cochliomyia hominivorax (Diptera: Calliphoridae), as revealed by microsatellite markers
The cultural and economic importance of animal production in South America dates back to the colonial era. This continent has one of the largest percentages of the world s total cattle population and countries like Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay play a major role as exporters of a variety of livestock products. Diseases affecting livestock can have a signific
