1. Sondando estruturas cristalinas e interações magnéticas em perovskitas com espectroscopia Raman / Probing crystal structures and magnetic interactions in perovskites using Raman spectroscopy

3. PROPRIEDADES DE TRANSPORTE DE SISTEMAS NANOSCÓPICOS: ÁTOMOS E MOLÉCULAS / TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF NANOSCOPIC SYSTEMS: ATOMS AND MOLECULES
In this work we study the electronic transport in atomic and molecular structures. By using the Green´s function method, we address the problem of the electron-electron and electron-phonon interactions and their effects on the conductance of the system. We present a detailed study of the regime where these two interactions are simultaneously important and s

4. The effect of polar and many-body interactions on the optical properties of III-nitrides / Estudo dos efeitos polares e de muitos corpos nas propriedades opticas de III-nitretos

Quanturn confinement effects in semiconductor nanoerystais have attracted a significant amount of interest in the last few years, because of their new optical properties and aiso because of their potential for optical device applications. ln this thesis the size-dependent optical properties of nanometer-scale semiconductor crystallites (or quantum dots) in d

In this work we present a study of optical properties in CdTe quantum dots in doped glasses. We present absorption spectra as a function of temperature and we calculate these absorption spectra considering the inhomogeneous broadening due to the quantum dot size distribution and the homogeneous broadening, due mainly to electron-phonon interactions. The resu

We present studies of the optical properties of CdTe quantum dots in doped glasses by means of optical absorption and photoluminescence measurements. We show spectra at low temperature (15 K) and at room temperature (300 K) for series of samples grown under differente heat - treatment conditions. Comparing the low and room temperature absorption spectra we c

The effect of external fields on the behavior of electron interactions in both a solid state and a gaseous plasma has been considered. The external fields consisted of strong electromagnetic waves by themselves or in association with a d.c. magnetic field. As to the interactions in a gaseous plasma the plasma heating by inverse bremsstrahlung ( IB ) was stud

9. Spectral broadening of interacting pigments: polarized absorption by photosynthetic proteins.
Excitonic interaction between pigment molecules is largely responsible for the static and dynamic spectroscopic properties of photosynthetic pigment-proteins. This paper provides a new description of its effect on polarized absorption spectroscopy, in particular on circular dichroism (CD). We investigate excitonic spectra of finite width and use "spectral mo
