1. Reações adversas durante condicionamento para transplante autólogo de células tronco hematopoéticas em vigência do uso de globulina antitimocitária / Adverse reactions during conditioning for autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with the use of anti-thymocyte globulin
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive demyelinating autoimmune disease, immune- mediated by auto-reactive T lymphocytes, which provoke an immunological cascade, enhancing the local inflammation. In type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1), self-reactive T lymphocytes exist that destroy ? cells in the pancreas, causing insulin production deficiency. The development

2. Viability in the production of a drug extracted from Ananas comosus by a flat membrane system
The aim of this work was to study the production of e bromelain from the Ananas comosus L. Merril, by determining the process conditions using flat membranes. The production system modeling generated a hyperbolical curve and the optimization by response surfaces showed an influence of the transmembrane pressure higher than the pH influence. The cost of the p

3. Eletrophoretic and spectrometric characterization of Cinchona extracts of use phytoterapic and cosmetic / Caracterização eletroforética e espectrométrica de extratos de Cinchona de uso fitoterápico e cosmético
Every year, malaria kills about one million people. According to OMS, 3.3 billion people, half of the world population, are exposed to the disease, mostly in underdeveloped countries. The pharmaceuticals used in the treatment of malaria include: chloroquine, primaquine, quinine, mefloquine, doxyclyne, clindamicina and artemisin. The increased resistance of t

6. Polymeric coating and pharmacokinetic of chitosan granules containing ddI incorporated in microparticles / Revestimento polimerico e farmacocinetica de granulos gastrorresistentes contendo didanosina incorporada em microparticulas de quitosana
This work studied the production and pharmacokinetic of a new pharmaceutical formulation of the didanosine (ddI) drug ,composed by chitosan granules containing ddI incorporated in microparticles, for oral administration in the AIDS therapy. The advantages of this new pharmaceutical formulation compared to the conventional one are: to assure ddI stability in

7. Produção de acido hialuronico por Streptococcus : estudo da fermentação e caracterização do produto / Production of hyaluronic acid by Streptococcus : study of the fermentation and characterization of the product
This work studied the production of hyaluronic acid (HA) by microbial route correlating variables of the process with productivity and physico-chemical properties of the product. Strains of Streptococcus were used in batch fermentations, aiming to obtain HA with high molecular weight, in the range o millions, high viscosity and viscoelasticity. Those propert

8. Microparticulas de quitosana com didanosina e sua formulação em granulos mucoadesivos / Didanosine-load chitosan microspheres and their formulation in mucoadhesive granules
In this work a scalable process was developed for the production of gastroresistent granules containing chitosan microspheres, loaded with the drug didanosine (ddl). The global process included three stages, and the operational conditions were optimized in order to maintain the active form of the drug didanosine, which is sensitive to acidic pH conditions, a

9. Cultivo in vitro de Artemisia annua L. para a produção de artemisinina
Malaria, one of tbe major public health poblems in tropical countries, has been counteracted by syntbetic drogs such as chloroquine and their derivatives, presenting serious side effects. In addition their efficacy is affected mainly by the resistance of the malaria causing agent to these drugs. A plant extract from Artemisia annua, containing artemisinin, h

10. High-Level Production of Porphyrins in Metabolically Engineered Escherichia coli: Systematic Extension of a Pathway Assembled from Overexpressed Genes Involved in Heme Biosynthesis
Due to their spectroscopic properties porphyrins are of special interest for a variety of applications, ranging from drug development or targeting to material sciences and chemical and biological sensors. Since chemical syntheses are limited in terms of regio- and stereoselective functionalization of porphyrins, a biosynthetic approach with tailored enzyme c

11. OptStrain: A computational framework for redesign of microbial production systems
This paper introduces the hierarchical computational framework OptStrain aimed at guiding pathway modifications, through reaction additions and deletions, of microbial networks for the overproduction of targeted compounds. These compounds may range from electrons or hydrogen in biofuel cell and environmental applications to complex drug precursor molecules.
