5. Seleção genômica ampla no melhoramento vegetal / Genome wide selection in plant breeding
The Genome Wide selection was proposed in 2001 to predict the phenotype values based in molecular markers information. In a previus step, the effect of each of each marker in controlling the genetic variance is estimated. This technology has already been used in animals, however, no report of its use was made for plants. This work aimed to study the impact o

6. Ketamine-xylazine, tiletamine-zolazepam and tiletamine-zolazepam-levomepromazine combinations in capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) anesthesia / Associação cetamina-xilazina, tiletamina-zolazepam, e tiletamina-zolazepam-levomepromazina na anestesia de capivara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris)
Despite the great number of capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) breedings, this species reproduction, handling, nutrition, diseases and its related agents are still studied. Its study requires chemical immobilization specially when the physical restraint can be a stressing factor for the animal and also risky for the technical team. In practice, the chemica

10. Rapid chromosomal assignment of multiple genomic clones in tomato using primary trisomics.
In order to rapidly assign relatively large numbers of tomato genomic clones to specific chromosomes, we have developed the following approach: groups of five to eight clones from a single copy tomato library are pooled, nick-translated, and utilized as probes against Southern blots consisting of a panel of trisomic DNAs. Since the trisomic DNAs are digested

11. Evaluation of the four-hour rapid 20E system for identification of members of the family Enterobacteriaceae.
A study was conducted to compare the API Rapid 20E 4-h system (API System S.A., France; commercially available in the U.S.A. under the name DMS Rapid E System; DMS Laboratories, Darts Mill, Flemington, N.J.), the API 20E 18- to 24-h system (Analytab Products, Plainview, N.Y.), and a conventional media system to measure the ability of each to identify members
