2. Caracterização histoquímica e imunoistoquímica de áreas telencefálicas da coruja-da-igreja (Tyto alba) / Histochemical and immunohistochemical characterization of forebrain areas in the barn owl (Tyto alba)
Owls possess exceptional visual and auditory capacities. There is only limited information about the neuroanatomy of their forebrain. Thus, we characterized by histo/immunohistochemical techniques the forebrain of the barn owl. The basal ganglia were delineated by their intense immunostaining for DARPP-32 and tyrosine hydroxylase. Primary thalamorecipient se

Distribution of ionotropic glutamate receptors and their co-localization with the phosphoprotein DARPP-32 in the medial prefrontal córtex of rats.

7. Wnt-5a-induced Phosphorylation of DARPP-32 Inhibits Breast Cancer Cell Migration in a CREB-dependent Manner*
Tumor cell migration plays a central role in the process of cancer metastasis. We recently identified dopamine and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein of 32 kDa (DARPP-32) as an antimigratory phosphoprotein in breast cancer cells. Here we link this effect of DARPP-32 to Wnt-5a signaling by demonstrating that recombinant Wnt-5a triggers cAMP elevation at the plasma

8. DARPP-32 mediates serotonergic neurotransmission in the forebrain
Serotonin is implicated in the regulation of complex sensory, motor, affective, and cognitive functions. However, the biochemical mechanisms whereby this neurotransmitter exerts its actions remain largely unknown. DARPP-32 (dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein of molecular weight 32,000) is a phosphoprotein that has primarily been characterized in rel

9. Characterization of the interaction between DARPP-32 and protein phosphatase 1 (PP-1): DARPP-32 peptides antagonize the interaction of PP-1 with binding proteins
The catalytic subunit of PP-1 (PP-1C) is potently inhibited (IC50, ≈1 nM) by DARPP-32 (dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein, Mr 32,000), inhibitor-1, and inhibitor-2. The NH2-terminal 50 amino acid residues of DARPP-32 and inhibitor-1 are similar, and phosphorylation of a common threonine residue (Thr-34/Thr-35) is necessary for inhibition of PP-1C.

10. Dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein (DARPP-32) and dopamine DA1 agonist-sensitive Na+,K+-ATPase in renal tubule cells.
The cellular localization of DARPP-32, a dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein of Mr 32,000 that appears to mediate certain actions of dopamine in the mammalian brain by acting as an inhibitor of protein phosphatase 1, was studied in the kidney of several species. DARPP-32 mRNA and DARPP-32-like immunoreactivity were found in the cytoplasm of cells in

11. Dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein DARPP-32: phosphorylation of Ser-137 by casein kinase I inhibits dephosphorylation of Thr-34 by calcineurin.
Although protein phosphatases appear to be highly controlled in intact cells, relatively little is known about the physiological regulation of their activity. DARPP-32, a dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein of apparent M(r) 32,000, is phosphorylated in vitro by casein kinase I, casein kinase II, and cAMP-dependent protein kinase on sites phosphorylat

12. Immunohistochemical evidence for the existence of a dopamine- and cyclic AMP-regulated phosphoprotein (DARPP-32) in brown adipose tissue of pigs.
The indirect immunofluorescence technique was used to study the cellular localization of DARPP-32, a dopamine- and cyclic AMP-regulated phosphoprotein, in brown adipose tissue of newborn piglets. Clusters of strongly DARPP-32-immunoreactive cells were found in brown adipose tissue from the interscapular area and around lymph nodes close to the kidneys, adren
