13. Obtención y caracterización de recubrimientos de biovidrio sobre la aleación de Mg AZ31
ABSTRACT The ideal material for a metal bone prosthesis must undergo a gradual corrosion in vivo, without releasing toxic components, while acting as a support and facilitating the growth of bone tissue, until a replacement is completed by the regenerated bone. . Biodegradable magnesium alloys have been studied because of their excellent mechanical propertie

14. Microstructural Characterization of a Laser Surface Remelted Cu-Based Shape Memory Alloy
Cu-based shape memory alloys (SMAs) present some advantages as higher transformation temperatures, lower costs and are easier to process than traditional Ti-based SMAs but they also show some disadvantages as low ductility and higher tendency for intergranular cracking. Several studies have sought for a way to improve the mechanical properties of these alloy

15. Electroremediation of deactivated catalysts from fluidised catalytic cracking for vanadium removal - the effect of a dual cathode chamber reactor
Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the quantity of vanadium removed through electrokinetic remediation applied to catalyst waste used in a fluid catalytic cracking process. In excess, vanadium affects process efficiency by reducing the catalyst’s activity, causing deactivation and reducing its useful life in petroleum cracking during refining.

16. Electrochemical Noise for Detection of Stress Corrosion Cracking of Low Carbon Steel Exposed to Synthetic Soil Solution
In the last years, electrochemical noise (EN) has demonstrate that is capable of detect the initiation of cracks during the slow strain rate tests (SSRT). In this research, EN has been used as a tool to detect stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in low carbon steel (X52) exposed to a synthetic soil solution called NS4 at room temperature with pH of 5, 8 and 10.

17. Development of a Material for Manufacturing a Mold for Plastic Injection
Injection molding is a process used to manufacture high volumes of plastic containers of complex geometric shapes. Although CuBe has always been used, there are currently some alternative alloys such as the CuNiSiCr alloy that has lower manufacturing cost and similar properties. The objective of this paper is to characterize, by techniques of microscopy, the

18. Correlation of Stress Concentration Factors for T-Welded Connections – Finite Element Simulations and Fatigue Behavior
Abstract The stress concentration factors (SCFs) in welded connections usually occur at zones with high stress levels. Stress concentrations reduce the fatigue behavior of welded connections in offshore structures and cracking can develop. By using the grinding technique, cracking can be eliminated. Stress concentration factors are defined as a ratio of maxi

19. CFD Simulation of an Industrial Reactor for Thermal Cracking of 1,2-Dichloroethane
Abstract The vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is commercially produced on a large scale by thermal cracking of 1,2-dichloroethane (EDC) in a tubular reactor immersed in a furnace. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate and predict the performance of an industrial reactor. The reactor conversion as well as the behavior of several process variable

20. Metallurgical Characterization of API X65 Steel Joint Welded by MIG Welding Process with Axial Magnetic Field
In this work, API X-65 pipeline steel non-conventionally heat treated, to enhance its mechanical resistance, was welded using the Metal Inert Gas (MIG) process with and without the application of low intensity axial magnetic fields (6 mT). Microstructural and mechanical characterization of the welds revealed that the use of the magnetic field during welding

21. Effect of Preheating on Microstructure and Tensile Properties of Friction Stir Welded AA7075 Aluminium Alloy Joints
ABSTRACT The high strength AA7075 aluminum alloy is commonly used in the aerospace components due to its exclusive mechanical properties like lightweight and high strength. This alloy cannot be welded by fusion welding techniques due to solidification cracking which severely degrade the mechanical properties of the joint. In contrast, through friction stir w

22. Evaluación De La Influencia De Las Condiciones De Fondo De Pozo En El Deterioro De Un Acero API P110, En Ambientes Simulados Del Proceso De Combustión In Situ, Por Gravimetría Y EIS
ABSTRACT Given the large amount of consumption of oil as an energy source, is resulting in a diminution in the existing world oil, the exploitation of heavy oil emerges as new alternative extraction is left aside because of the difficulties associated to processing. Therefore the in situ combustion process is an extraction method that facilitates production

23. ACIDIC REMOVAL OF METALS FROM FLUIDIZED CATALYTIC CRACKING CATALYST WASTE ASSISTED BY ELECTROKINETIC TREATMENT
AbstractOne of the main uses of catalysts in the oil industry is in the fluidized catalytic cracking process, which generates large quantities of waste material after use and regeneration cycles and that can be treated by the electrokinetic remediation technique, in which the contaminant metals are transported by migration. In this study, deactivated FCC cat
