1. Peculiarities of Morphology of Large Salivary Glands in Experimental Animals Under Different Conditions of Motor Activity of Their Mothers During Pregnancy
Abstract Objective: To evaluate of the microstructure of the salivary glands of experimental animals born from of females rats, who were subjected to different modes of motor activity during the pregnancy: limited and compensated by regular moderate training. Material and Methods: The sample was composed 84 three-month-old descendants of Wistar rats which

2. Cut-Point for Satisfactory Adherence of the Dietary Sodium Restriction Questionnaire for Patients with Heart Failure

3. BEEF TALLOW AND EMULSIFIER IN GROWING-FINISHING PIG DIETS
ABSTRACT Two trials were aimed to evaluate beef tallow in diets with and without emulsifier on performance of pigs at growing-finishing phases. In the first trial, 15 barrows (22.03±0.62 kg) were distributed among three treatments: reference diet; test diet 1 (5% beef tallow) and test diet 2 (10% beef tallow). Beef tallow presented average value of 7130.97

4. Zwitterionic Surfactant Stabilized Palladium Nanoparticles as Catalysts in Aromatic Nitro Compound Reductions
Palladium nanoparticles (NPs) stabilized by ImS3-14, a zwitterionic surfactant structurally related to ionic liquids, are revealed here to be good catalysts for the reduction of a large number of substituted aromatic nitro compounds. Our mass spectrometry results are consistent with the formation of amino products in a direct route, where the aromatic nitro

5. Expression analysis for genes involved in arachidonic acid biosynthesis in Mortierella alpina CBS 754.68
The time courses for production of fungal biomass, lipid, phenolic and arachidonic acid (ARA) as well as expression of the genes involved in biosynthesis of ARA and lipid were examined in Mortierella alpina CBS 754.68. A significant increase in the arachidonic acid content in lipids that coincided with reduced levels of lipid was obtained. Reduced gene expre

6. Utilização do ultra-som intracoronário com Histologia Virtual® na identificação de lesões propensas à reestenose após o implante de stents / Application of Virtual Histology®-intravascular ultrasound (VH-IVUS) to identify restenosis-prone lesions after baremetal and sirolimus-eluting stents
To the present, little is known about the correlation between modifications in plaque composition at stent edges and the changes in vessel geometry. This study sought to evaluate, by serial grey-scale intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and Virtual Histology(TM), the modifications in plaque composition at the edges of drug-eluting and bare-metal stents and the c

8. Desenvolvimento e aplicação de procedimento metodológico em suporte ao planejamento participativo para redução de perda de solos em pequenas bacias hidrográficas com emprego da EUPS
The agrosilvipastoral activity has impacted negatively the environment worldwide, promoting soil erosion and sediment settling in water bodies. The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) estimates the rates of laminar erosion (A; in ton/acre/year) by the multiplication of six parameters: A = RKLSCP (R: rainfall erosivity factor; K = soil erodibility factor; S:

9. Longitudinal evaluation of hepatic osteodystrophy in children and adolescents with chronic cholestatic liver disease
Bone mass loss is a major complication of chronic cholestatic liver disease (CCD). However, the long-term impact of CCD on bone mass acquisition is unknown. We longitudinally assessed bone mineral density (BMD) and factors involved in bone remodeling in 9 children and adolescents with CCD Child-Pugh A (5 boys/4 girls) and in 13 controls (6 boys/7 girls). Regurgitação valvar funcional em insuficiência cardíaca congestiva descompensada: monitoração não-invasiva por bioimpedância cardíaca e ecocardiografia e resposta à terapêutica / Functional valvular incompetence in decompensated heart failure: noninvasive monitoring and response to medical management.
Objective: We hypothesized that functional mitral and tricuspid valvular incompetence (MR and TR, respectively) are reversible causes of reduced cardiac output in decompensated heart failure (DF) that accompanies systolic dysfunction in ischemic or nonischemic cardiomyopathy. Background: DF, defined as signs and symptoms of heart failure at rest, is rooted i

OBJECTIVES: We evaluated the impairment of endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent coronary blood flow reserve after administration of intracoronary acetylcholine and adenosine, and its association with hypertensive cardiac disease. INTRODUCTION: Coronary blood flow reserve reduction has been proposed as a mechanism for the progression of compensat

Heart failure (HF) is the end stage of different types of cardiovascular diseases and it is characterized by changes in the metabolic and myocardial contractility. We use the models cre-lox with specific knockout for insulin receptor substrate (IRS) and co-activator of PPAR (PGC-1b) (basal and pressure overload). The objective was understood the role in the
