1. Risk factors for failure of subclavian vein catheterization: a retrospective observational study
Abstract Background and objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze risk factors for failure of subclavian vein catheterization. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 1562 patients who underwent subclavian vein puncture performed by the same experienced operator at Peking University Cancer Hospital from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2019 was conducted.

4. Central venous catheter-related infections in patients receiving short-term hemodialysis therapy: incidence, associated factors, and microbiological aspects
Abstract INTRODUCTION: Bloodstream infections are the second most common cause of death among patients on hemodialysis. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of and risk factors associated with central venous catheter-related infections in patients undergoing hemodialysis, and to identify and characterize the type and antimicrobial susceptibility prof

5. Epidemiology of healthcare-associated infections among patients from a hemodialysis unit in southeastern Brazil
Patients submitted to hemodialysis are at a high risk for healthcare-associated infections (HAI). Presently there are scarce data to allow benchmarking of HAI rates in developing countries. Also, most studies focus only on bloodstream infections (BSI) or local access infections (LAI). Our study aimed to provide a wide overview of HAI epidemiology in a hemodi

6. Bloodstream infection in patients with end-stage renal disease in a teaching hospital in central-western Brazil
Introduction Vascular access in patients undergoing hemodialysis is considered a critical determinant of bloodstream infection (BSI) and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate the occurrence of BSI in patients with end-stage renal disease using central venous catheters for hemodialysis. Methods A coho

8. Uso do cateter central de inserção periférica em uma unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal na região Centro-Oeste / The use of peripherally inserted central catheter in a neonatal intensive care unit in the west central region
The peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) has been increasingly used in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), particularly in the treatment of premature neonates who require prolonged venous access, for security in parenteral therapy and for the quality of care, avoiding the discomfort of repeated punctures. The overall aim was to analyze the use

9. Fatores associados à provisão de acesso vascular permanente para hemodiálise:: Um marcador da qualidade da assistência prestada ao portador de doença renal crônica terminal no Brasil
Introduction: Provision of permanent vascular access before hemodialysis is the ideal condition to treat end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, because it is associated with lower morbidity and mortality. When this does not happen, these patients start hemodialysis with temporary catheter. The catheter should be removed as soon as possible. However, in Bra
