13. Estudo da ação psicofarmacológica de Herissantia crispa (L.) Brizicky (Malvaceae)
Herissantia crispa (L.) Brizicky popularly know as malvaísco is a plant which belongs to the Malvaceae family. There arent many reports about H. crispa, however, steroids, flavonoids and glycosidic flavonoids with pharmacological activity have been isolated from this species. Other species of Malvaceae have been used in traditional medicine and many studies

14. Evaluation of the central effects of yangambin isolated from Ocotea duckei Vattimo: Behavioral and neurochemical study in mice motor cortex and striatum / Avaliação dos efeitos centrais da iangambina isolada de Ocotea duckei Vattimo: Estudo comportamental e neuroquímico em córtex motor e corpo estriado de camundongo
The effects of the acute administration of yangambin (25, 50 and 75 mg/kg intraperitoneal and oral), were studied in some animals behavioral models (open field, rotarod, forced swimming test, barbiturate-induced sleeping time, hole board, elevated plus maze, pentilenotetrazole-induced convulsion). Binding in vitro with differents concentrations of yangambin

15. Evaluation of the central activity of the ethanolic extract of Acosmium subelegans (Mohlenbr) in mice
The ethanolic extract (EE) of Acosmium subelegans (Mohlenbr) Yakovl (perobinha-do-campo) was tested to behavioral paradigms in mice to investigate its putative central depressant effect. Oral pretreatment with the EE significantly reduced in a dose-dependent way the locomotor activity and increased by 30-55% the barbiturate sleep duration relatively to contr

17. Haemodynamic effects of dextro-propranolol in acute myocardial infarction
Intravenous injections of 20-25 mg. d-propranolol did not change the heart rate or systemic pressure in 13 patients with cardiac infarction. Cardiac output was depressed in 10, but there was no clinical deterioration. d-Propranolol was better tolerated than dl-propranolol under these conditions and justifies further investigation as an anti-dysrhythmic agent

20. Adenosine receptors and behavioral actions of methylxanthines.
Central stimulant actions of 10 methylxanthines in mice correlate with affinities for adenosine receptors labeled with N6-[3H]cyclohexyladenosine. Affinities of methylxanthines for adenosine receptors are consonant with central levels attained at behaviorally effective doses. The much higher concentrations of methylxanthines required to influence benzodiazep

21. Vasoactive intestinal polypeptide acts synergistically with norepinephrine to depress spontaneous discharge rate in cerebral cortical neurons.
Cortical neurons are densely innervated by noradrenergic fibers and by intrinsic cortical interneurons containing vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP). Biochemically, VIP and norepinephrine (NE) synergistically interact to stimulate the synthesis of cyclic AMP in cortical slices. Therefore, we sought physiological indices of this peptide-monoamine interac

24. GABA receptor mediation of median preoptic nucleus-evoked inhibition of supraoptic neurosecretory neurones in rat.
1. This study evaluated the influence of focal electrical and chemical microstimulation in the median preoptic nucleus (MnPO) on the excitability of putative vasopressin and oxytocin neurones recorded in the supraoptic nucleus of urethane- or pentobarbitone-anaesthetized rats. 2. In vasopressin neurones, single 1 Hz stimulation reduced the excitability of 12
