1. Germinative potential of ‘Pata-de-Vaca’ seeds at different maturation stages under various temperatures

2. Water availability and substrate in the emergency and initial development of Bauhinia scandens L.
ABSTRACT Bauhinia scandens is an ornamental plant and it has anti-tumor properties. The demand for seedlings of this species makes it necessary to know about the germinative behavior of seeds and the initial growth of seedlings. The objective of the present work was to determine the type of substrate and moistening conditions that are more favorable to the e

4. Insect galls on Bauhinia cupulata (Fabaceae): morphotypes characterization and description of a new species of Schizomyia (Cecidomyiidae, Diptera)
ABSTRACT Galls on Bauhinia cupulata (Fabaceae) were investigated in two physiognomies of the Cerrado, riparian and dry forest, in the municipality of Barreiras (Western Bahia, Brazil) from October 2012 to July 2014. Four insect gall morphotypes were found. They were characterized based on shape, color, indumentum, plant organ of occurrence and galling taxon.

5. GROWTH RESPONSE OF Bauhinia Variegata L. TO INOCULATION AND ORGANIC FERTILIZATION

7. Carbon Content in Shrub-tree Species of the Caatinga
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the carbon content (C) in stem, leaves and thin and thick branches of eight species in an area of Caatinga, municipality of Floresta, Pernambuco, Brazil. To do so, dry biomass samples of at least 15 trees distributed into five diametric classes collected from the study area and fractionated in laboratory were

8. Characterization of insect galls from a vegetation area in Altinópolis, São Paulo State, Brazil
Abstract Herein, we studied the occurrence of insect galls from natural vegetation around the Itambé Cave, Altinópolis, SP, Brazil. A sampling effort of 7.5 hours resulted in 41 gall morphotypes on 21 host plant species from 14 families. The richest families of host plants in morphotypes were Fabaceae (N = 11), Euphorbiaceae (N = 7), and Malpighiaceae (N =

9. Phytochemical Constituents Isolated from the Stem Bark of Bauhinia monandra
ABSTRACT The methanolic extract from stem bark of Bauhinia monandra, a medicinal plant employed in folk medicine, yielded by column chromatography lup-20(29)-en-3β,24-diol ( 1) and methyl galloate (2) along with β-sitosterol ( 3). These known phytoconstituents are being reported for the first time from this plant and their structures were established by N

10. Pollen Viability and Autogamy Fitness in Bauhinia forficata Link (Fabaceae)
ABSTRACT Bauhinia forficata (Fabaceae) occurs in many phytophysiognomies of southern Brazil, however its ecological relevance is not well understood. The present study was developed in the Central Depression of Rio Grande do Sul and aimed to determine variations in pollen viability along flowering, ability to perform autogamy and dye efficiency for the viabi

11. PHENOLIC DERIVATIVES AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF POLAR EXTRACTS FROM Bauhinia pulchella
A tea made with the leaves or stem bark of Bauhinia pulchella Benth (Fabaceae) is used in the treatment of diabetes. Ethanol (EEF) and aqueous (EAF) extracts were obtained from the leaves and the antioxidant and citotoxic activities were tested, as well as quantify the content of flavonoids and phenolic compounds (TPC). EEF and EAF showed similar profiles by

12. Insect gall occurrence in savanna and forest remnant sites of Hidrolândia, GO, Brazil Central
Abstract In this study we perform an inventory of the insect galls in savanna and forest sites of Hidrolândia, Goiás, Brazil. We found 150 insect gall morphotypes, distributed on 39 botanical families and 104 plant species. Among the insect galls, 81 gall morphotypes were recorded in the savanna site and 73 in the forest site. The plant taxa richest in ins
