RESUMO

The airports users are submitted to emergencies risks that involve fire, however the majority of these citizens do not participate of training to act in such situations. The objective of this work is the investigation of the relationship between graphical presentation of security information for fire situation and the understanding of such information by these users through the accomplishment of a task. The task consist of the airports quickly and security evacuating process. The research was realized in the cities of Recife and Fortaleza. The work theoretical part was based on studies of cognitive, cultural and informational ergonomics, beyond questions of fire situation. The research was composed by graphical analysis of security information, interview with airport users and understanding test with fire emergencies plates, and was realized through the computer. The results had shown the necessity of reformulations in the security information in both airports, according parameters proper and adopted by the ABNT to guarantee the effectiveness Visual system effectiveness of security information for fire situation
