RESUMO

This research is about the process from the beginning of Diadema City, located in the south State of São Paulo, accordin to studies from the country land of Vila Conceição, known today as downtown of this city. Vila Conceição, was born by an ancient farm in 1924, it is so important as country village that had became district center in 1948, receiving the name of Vila Diadema in 1958, when Diadema district had became emancipated from São Bernardo do Campo, it started to be municipal seat. At that time, Vila Conceição was not a developed economical area, like Piraporinhas borought was since the very beginning of 50s decade, it had two industries, Inbra and Solidor. In face of this fact, our subject was to understand the peculiarities from the process of emancipation, industrialization and urbanization in Diadema, having in mind, the changes that ocurred in Vila Conceição, subsequently, Vila Diadema.
