RESUMO

On this paper, some practices of the Juventude Estudantil Católica Feminina (JECF), a secondary school s student movement, were analysed, for the term between the 1950s and the 1960s. For the purpouse of this analisys it is considered, in accordance with Certeau, that the practices are producers of meaning for those who carries them out and therefore are producers of culture. Hence, it was taken as privileged sources the notebooks with orientations destined to the jecist leaderships, series of mailings from the movement, reports on activities, besides from messages from ecclesiastic leaderships aimed at the secondary school s student movement. Based on the analisys of those sources, one can perceive that the practices of the JECF were accomplishing the Church s strategy to recover, maintain and increase the power lost throughout the centuries. One can also perceive that the practices of the JECF, aimed at that specific goal, reaffirm the characterization of the Church, represented by the acting of the laic movements, as a party
