RESUMO

The decision support systems have crossed the boundaries of the commercial business and recently have reached the most diverse areas of knowledge. Whether in learning, government, private or non profitable institutions, wherever a decision process exists there is a need for such systems. In this system category we point out the Data Warehouse (DW), which allows the generation of integrated data and historical information that makes possible users to make decisions based on facts and not on assumptions and, although it already exists for over 20 years, there is still no formal methodology for its implementation. Such fact is also applied to the Geographical DW (GDW), i.e., a DW environment with geo-referenced data treatment and storage. In this context, this work defines a GDW development strategy wich envelops from requirements to data loading, following the hibrid integration method and using the Ralph Kimball, John A. Zachman and Vidette Poe methodology for traditional DW as basis. In addition, a case study of the Legal Amazon Burnning Monitoring System is made in order to evaluate and validate each one of the implemented strategy phases
