RESUMO

The purpose of this dissertation was to analyze the teaching-learning process of the students with a history of school failure in a II level Acceleration Class (3rd and 4th grades of High School), the study of the Acceleration Class of Learning level II is meant to students with a deficiency in grade/age and didnt adapt to the essential concepts of many areas of knowledge. Its at this moment that one recognizes that the school system is in decadence, worrying all those from the school community, bringing up the following question: Does the Acceleration Class provide and serve the students the necessities needed? With the intention to answer this question, a descriptive survey, documental and with a watched participation was done during na Acceleration Class at a public school in the city of Siderópolis in the 2nd semester of 2002. For the theoretical analyses a main theoretical referential was used according to the historical-cultural of learning and teaching especially the contributions of Vygotsky and of the authors who have believed in his works. Through the results it was possible to know the reality of an Acceleration Class and to reveal the everyday methodology in a classroom, the conceptions among the teachers and their work pedagogically as well as the feelings and attitudes of the teachers and students surveyed showing that the students from the Acceleration Class had the opportunity to acquire knowledge. The intellectual and social development of these students was considerable; the changes of behavior and their interest for the studies were woken up by the teachers and through the interaction that had happened all the time between students-teachers-students. The final considerations of the survey shows the difficulties and advances which it had been seen in the classroom showing how much the Brazilian population still needs an educational structure that pays attention to the diversities and also allows a deeper reflection about the teaching-learning process of the students with a history of school failure.
