RESUMO

Balanced Scorecard (BSC) concept is currently widely used for Strategic Management and has been considered a very efficient framework for implementating strategy in a company. A network of indicators is created from the strategic objectives. At the same time, Information Technology (IT) has evolved from the traditional support orientation to a strategic role in the company. However, Information Technology itself is not able to increase company performance. In order to obtain effective results it is necessary to be linked to the company strategy, it means the IT infrastructure and investments must be associated to the company global objectives so that it can contribute to widen the range of IT impacts. The aim of this study is to analyse how corporative Balanced Scorecard has been used to select and priorize IT projects in the companies and also how this use promotes alignment between IT and business strategies.
