RESUMO

Grounded on the Hjelmeslevs concepts, on the Jakobsons functions of the language and on some postulates of the Peirces theory of the signs, this work intends to capture the repeatable invariabilities in haiku and haicais produced by poets of countries of English, Spanish, French and Portuguese languages in confrontation with little poems written by the oriental masters Bashô, Issa, Buson, Shiki and others. Our goal is to show that, in spite of the apparent diversity between the Eastern and Western micropoem, when it is examined to the light of the functions of the language, specially the poetic and referencial ("form-content") ones, as well as other logical tools, we can observe in apparently diverse samples certain repeatable forms ("formulas), what allow to classify the little poems in certain way of organization. Such task was possible considering the poem as written work, being made possible, this way, the research of several meaning effects in the receiver-readers, with the purpose of doing them to evoke the scene perceived/registered by the poet. The sample was formed by four thousand Portuguese, English, Spanish and French poems, and the methodology consisted of the application of a linguistic, comunicational, semiotic instrument that allowed to classify the poems in function of the structural invariances in common presented. Starting from the problem: of a comunicacional, linguistic and semiotic point of view, what would be invariant in the examined little poems?, our hypothesis is that the main characteristic of the little poem, its "trade mark", whatever the language, time and style, consists in its external form and sign combinatory arrangement, done get by the use of logical-linguistic artifices: choose of the words, organization of the scenic elements, disposition of the words in three lines and meaning relationships between words and lines. The research was important for being unpublished and for having revealed certain "logical structural formulas, that allowed to classify them in three types or construction modalities. The sample was consulted between March of 2002 and November of 2004.
