RESUMO

The purpose of this work is to present the development of an specific computer enviroment to project and to analise components and fiber optic communication systems, using a simulation technique. The choice of the Sun wokstation, which give an interactive and friendly enviroment, was associate with the Openwindows. Many types of photonics components, nowadays available were introduced in the library. The parameters of these components can be modified by the user in order to optimize the system configuration. In this work we present the basic components of a communication system, the implemented mathematical models and the general organization and structure of the software. The facilities provided to the user are showed and exemplified by menus and graphics
