RESUMO Este artigo tem por intuito discutir as relações entre experiência e escrita nas obras de Walter Benjamin e Georges Bataille, tomando como fio condutor as figuras do olho e do olhar. A partir de uma análise das relações críticas que os dois autores estabeleceram com o surrealismo no final dos anos 1920, procede-se em seguida à leitura de dois textos: “Policlínica”, de Benjamin, extraído de Rua de mão única, e “Olho”, de Bataille, publicado na revista Documents. Discute-se especialmente o sentido que assume neles a figuração do olho e a encenação do olhar.ABSTRACT In order to discuss the relationship between experience and writing in the works of Walter Benjamin and Georges Bataille, this article starts with an analysis of the critical relations that the two authors established with surrealism in the late 1920s, and then propose the reading of the fragment “Polyclinic”, extracted from Benjamin’s One-way street, and of Bataille’s “Eye”, published in the magazine Documents. We then discuss specifically the meaning that the figuration and the enactment of the eye assume in them.
