RESUMO

The industrial process control systems are based on a well founded theory: control system. This theory allow us to work with a variaty of complicated daily problems of process system. However the theory of control system has as primary condition: the existence of a mathematical model. Such condition in many ocasions has presented incoveniences and limitations. This work studies an alternative approach to this problem: the use of expert systems. This approach is made on two kids of environment. The first acts as the controller of the plant. The second studies an hierarchal environment as if it was acting as a supervising module. The result of the simulation of these two systems are presented and points to be considered in design are discussed
