RESUMO

The eucalypt bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is important disease, because of systemic infection, of the loss caused, and of the pathosystem characteristics with difficult control. The aims of the work for the pathosystem R. solanacearum-eucalypt were: i) symtomatology descriptions, and loss quantification caused by disease; ii) transmition proof of pathogen for the clonal cuttings, and determinate the effect of the disease for the mini-garden production; and iii) protocols development and evaluated interespecificic resistance of the eucalypti bacterial wilt. In clonal mini-hedges, the disease is characterized by foliar necrosis, annular or complete wood darkening, wilt and death of rooted-cuttings, was as was rending of leaf blade veins and cuttings rot of mini-cuttings. The disease etiology was confirmed through exudates tests, scanning electron microscopy, bacterial isolation, PCR/RFLP analyses, hypersensitive reactions (HR) in tobacco seedlings, pathogenicity tests in eucalypt and tomato plantlets and re-isolation of inoculated bacteria. The incidence of disease in eucalypt nursery, from April to September 2005 resulted in total loss estimated at six million reais. The inoculum font was contaminated shoots and substrate, and the pathogen was transmitted for eucalypt clonal mini-cuttings, causing loss four times in production index. Development method for evaluated of the resistance, with conditions for the plant infect similar to clonal mini-hedge. For the species evaluated, E. tereticornis and E. grandis were, respectively, the species with minor (33.3%) and higher (91.7%) susceptibility genotypes.
