RESUMO

The main objective of this research is to investigate the senses attributed to higher education by undergraduate students in order to analyze the moral and non-moral values that emerge from the configurations of sense in relation to the academy, to knowledge and to professional education. The theoretical approach is supported by Historical-cultural psychology, mainly the concepts of Wallon, Vygotsky and followers. The objective is to carry through a critical analysis of the context of higher education which encompasses the public policy proposals for the area. The methodological approach is qualitative and the interview is the chosen procedure for the apprehension of sense and personal experience of the context by the students. It also uses the observation of the researcher in the classroom. Six students of the courses of Psychology and Social Communication, in which the researcher works as a Psychology teacher, were interviewed. From that point on, the research raised categories that identify moral and non-moral values within the studentsâ senses. The results indicate that, for the students, the academic formation is not a priority unless it brings money, success, acceptance in the job market and an improvement of their selfimage. Those aspects show that non-moral values predominate in the configuration of the senses of the undergraduate students, instead of moral values such as respect, justice and an appreciation of knowledge.
