RESUMO

All PWR reactors are provided with a component called pressurizer, whose aim is to supply the necessary high pressure for its operation and to contain pressure variations in the primary cooling system. This work is intended for determining changes in the variables of interest caused by perturbations in the principal parameters of the pressurizer model that constitutes the code MODPRESS. Such procedure is known as sensitivity analysis. For the referred analysis, the pressurizer was treated as a thermodynamic system constituted of three control volumes, two of them being liquid water and one steam. The lowest liquid volume was considered fixed and the pressure uniform in all the volumes. The sensitivity analyses were carried out for the same type of transient utilizing two PWR pressurizers of different geometries: the NEPTUNUS (test section) and the IRIS reactor. The validity or the model was confirmed by means of comparison between a numeric simulation of saturation temperature versus time obtained by means of MODPRESS code and the experimental result obtained in NEPTUNUS pressurizer (U47 experimental test). The final pressure and the final control volume of intermediate region were the variables considered as of major interest and perturbated parameters were the insurge/outsurge flows and initial water level in intermediate control volume, because their variations are very important in the thermodynamic processes of the model. It was verified that the intermediate liquid volume was the most affected variable with the water level in this same volume appearing as the most influential parameter in its variations. It was also verified that the final pressure was more sensible to insurge flows then to outsurge flows. The results showed that the MODPRESS code is capable of satisfactorily reproducing the investigated transients in both types of pressurizer
