Responsabilidade socioambiental e integração: o caso Cargil Agrícola S/A - Complexo Industrial de Uberlândia - Minas Gerais

RESUMO

Nowadays, it has been lived a special moment in which, the demands for a more harmonious conviviality with the nature appear from all the sides: media, governments and organized civil society. Moreover, the serious accidents with the environment, occurred all over the world, in the second half of the XX Century, had contributed to increase the environment issue discussion. For the organizations, specifically, such pressures have been answered thru actions, which translate the intention of minimizing the damages of economic effect over the social-environmental issues, what comes up to the sustainability concept. In Brazil, the social responsibility idea, took place as an organizational practice, by the end of the years of 1990, however, it is still uncertain the effective adoption of this practice as an organizational value. With the intention to contribute to solve this hesitation, the objective of this work was to verify if the social-environmental management is a value for the studied organization, or either, if, in Cargill S/A - Industrial Unit in Uberlândia, MG, Brazil, the social-environmental issues already had transited from the device level to become a organizational value. The method for this research was the case study and, multiple evidence sources had been used, being the primary data gotten thru half-structuralized interviews and the secondary data collected from documents, at the company and from general publications regarding it. About data analysis, it was carried on through the suitable methodology for qualitative-descriptive studies, using classic analysis techniques (primary data), documentary analysis (secondary data) and data triangulation, to: (i) identify the social-environment responsibility projects adopted by the organization; (ii) set the limits of the environment management actions; (iii) know the environment goals of the company; (iv) analyze the environment management practices of the studied organization; (v) identify the implicit and explicit organizational values in the documental research; and (vi) analyze the environmental actions impacts on internal addressees integration, according to the organizational values, previously identified. The results indicate that the environmental issues at Cargill, in Uberlândia, still remain at the devices level, despite the consistent social-environment management that the Company practices, however, it still is not fully shared with the employees, as most of them had confirmed that these practices are unknown, or, if known, these internal addressees do not take part on them. In such way, in this organization, to the environmental issue becomes a shared and relevant value for the employees, the socialenvironmental management will have to be developed into a more effective one.
