RESUMO

Infiltration of enamel-like initial caries lesions with low viscosity resins (infiltrants) seems to be a promising approach in dentistry and it have showed advantages regarding to remineralization or invasive treatments. In this way, material must penetrate and seal lesions intake, reinforcing carious structure and eventually avoiding lesion progression, with capacity in maintaining a long-term strength bond with carious enamel. The aim of this study was to evaluate bond strength of experimental low viscosity resins with different compositions of monomers over artificial enamel caries lesions by micro tensile bond strength test. Ninety human molars third without caries were used. Tooth root were cut and crown fragments were polished and cut, in mesio-distal sense, for the enamel-like initial caries lesions production. Each specimen was immersed individually in 50 mL of caries former solution, during 10 h at 37°C. Specimens were distributed randomly in 9 groups (n=10), according to low viscosity experimental material composition (Group 1: TEGDMA 100%, Group 2: TEGDMA 80% + ethanol 20%, Group 3: TEGDMA 80% + HEMA 20%, Group 4: TEGDMA 75% + UDMA 25%, Group 5 : TEGDMA 60% + UDMA 20% + ethanol 20% , Group 6: TEGDMA 60% + UDMA 20% + HEMA 20%, Group 7: TEGDMA 75% + BisEMA 25%, Group 8: TEGDMA 60% + BisEMA 20 % + ethanol 20%, Group 9 : TEGDMA 60% + BisEMA 20% + HEMA 20%). Results showed that higher values of bond strength were observed to the groups G1, G3, G4, G6 and G7. Intermediate values of bond strength were observed to G2, G5 and G9. Group G8 showed lower mean value of bond strength. It could be concluded that the use of infiltrant materials with composition without ethanol solvent showed higher value of bond strength on the carious enamel
