RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to evaluate "in vitro" the tensile bond strength of amalgam restorations retained to tooth structure by amalgapins, adhesive systems or amalgapins in conjuction with adhesive systems. Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the failure pattern occurred in tooth/amalgam interface. Fifty human extracted third molars, were mounted in self-curing acrylic resin and the occlusal surfaces were ground wet by using 220 and 400 grit silicon carbide paper to provide a flat dentin surface. The specimens were randomly divided into five groups of 10 teeth, and submitted to following procedures: amalgapins (Group A); Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus (Group B); Amalgambond Plus (Group C); amalgapins + Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus (Group O); and amalgapins -+ Amalgambond Plus (Group E). The specimens of groups A, O and E, received four amalgapins 2mm in depth, 1 mm in diameter with a beveled entrance...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
