RESUMO

The demand for even more powerful electronic products, combining more functionality into a single device and ensuring portability to the final users has increased along the last decade. On the other hand, the Moore s Law has been confirmed, allowing the increasing capacity of today s silicon technology. This fact have moved the design methodology of embedded system towards its complete integration on single chip, called system-on-chip (SoC), by reusing pre-designed and pre-verified Intellectual Property blocks (IP cores), as an alternative to reduce the systems time-to-market. In this context, in Brazil-IP project (project for resources training in hardware development, supported by CNPQ), it was proposed in 2005 the ipPROCESS, an IP-core development process with prototyping in FPGA, based on RUP (Rational Unified Process). This process defines a set of tasks, assigned to specific roles into the organization, to transform the requirements in a desired IPcore, ensuring quality and time-to-market constraints agreed with customer. In recent process evaluations against NBR ISO/IEC standard 12207: Systems and software engineering -- Software life cycle processes (that establishes a common framework for software life cycle processes, with well-defined taxonomy), it was attested that ipPROCESS doesn t comply to the fundamental set of processes defined in this standard, only defining project development flows, without IP-core negotiation, conception, supply and maintenance. Thus, this work proposes the ipPROCESS structuring, with a set of processes to the organization, focusing on definition and incorporation of primary processes to the flow, to encompass from the product negotiation with the customer, through its development, operation, supply and maintenance
