RESUMO

Questions that deal with possible links between Psychoanalysis and Medicine were raised in work developed jointly by students and professors at a faculty of medicine in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This work produced evidence that the complicating of biomedical knowledge as stated in the paradigms of science, and clinical practice were unsynchronized with each other, with the latter always dealing with a singular subject, a fact that produced an uneasy feeling, not only amongst doctors, professors and students but also patients. Attempts were made to verify the historic and discursive conditions that led medicine to align itself to the discourse of science, excluding subjectivity from its field of attention, a field later revived by Sigmund Freud through the creation of psychoanalysis. Both in the clinic and in the university, it is in the relation to the discourse of medicine while founded on the discourse of science and the manner in which this discourse is transmitted by medical education that we mean to position psychoanalysis, and demarcate the differences in relation to both the discourse of medicine as well as that of education. This research tried to envisage how psychoanalysis could be transmitted, inscribed in medical culture as an intervenient, and seeking the conditions for such a possibility.
