Psicologia, trabalho e saúde : um estudo sobre a atuação dos psicólogos no campo da saúde do trabalhador

RESUMO

This study investigates the work psychologists actions and programs related to the promotion of health at work. The research aims to identify activities and strategies developed by psychologists in preventing workers suffering and promotion of health at work. It analyses the psychologists viewpoint in relation to their practices and how these practices contribute for promoting workers well being. In the investigation, a quantiqualitative approach was used. The participants were a group of Ceará s organizational psychologists. Data were collected by the application of a questionnaire, sent by the internet to psychologists enrolled in Regional Council of Psychology of Ceará (CRP11), and by semi-structured interviews with five professionals. The results of the quantitative study showed that 56,7% of the participants develop activities related to promotion of health and prevention of illness at work. However, only 60% of those have done some kind of training in the area. The interviews revealed that organizational psychologists do not have worker s health as priority in their professional routine. Although they know the main theories, the theme "workers health" seems obscure and they do not have qualification for a critical approach. The actions developed in the area are poor. This picture is due, probably, to lack of professional qualification, accommodation of the professional, to an excessive organization perspective and to a lack of articulation of the category to allow the exchange of information and knowledge. The concern with the physical health was shown as a priority for the psychologists instead of issues related to mental health. The work psychologists use models and strategies in a non critical way trough narrow programs and actions without awareness of the impact and the repercussions that they exercise on the subjects.
