RESUMO

This dissertation aims to analyze the poetic works of Álvaro de Campos. It discusses the heteronomy of Fernando Pessoa as a matter of language, for it is the texts that inscribe the heteronyms in the world. It analyzes the poetry of the heteronym of the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, Álvaro de Campos, from the configurations of the concepts of outrora (pastness) and agora (nowness). It presents the poetry of the engineer with a monocle and an exaggeratedly belted coatin his two phases: the first, moment of the -isms and the sensations, and the second, in which the poet is taken by the dejection of facing life. It highlights the nowness of modernity in the reading of the Triumphal Ode. It understands the pastness of childhood as a metaphor of poetic creation and as a moment in which the dream is still allowed. It investigates the anguished self built in this poetry, whose path is marked by boredom, melancholy and the frustration for that which could have been but has not been.
