RESUMO

The objective of this study is to present a reflection about the metaphor as a process of sense construction transferring its definition from the limits of the relationships that occur in the inner sentence by understanding the metaphor from a perspective that takes into account the relationshíp among metaphor, discourse and enunciation. A metaphorical sense reflection will be carried out in three specific moments in this study. In chapter I an incursion through classical rhetoric and mor recent theories will be made aiming at verifyng how metaphor definition is understood in these theories. In chapter II a discussion about some meaning relationships will be presented in order to displace the way the metaphor is normally conceived, that is, a way of discussing the metaphorical phenomenon in a discoursive and enunciative view will be proposed. Finally in chapter III an analysis will be made, reflecting about the metaphor condition as a process of sense construction
