RESUMO

In this thesis a new technique using polymers particularly polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE) was devclaped, to study at ambient conditions by means of infrared spectrophotametry, the following photochemical reactions: - the substitution af the carbonyls of Fe(CO)5 by conjugated dienes and mono-olefins. - the photofragmentation af Fe(CO)5. - the reaction of Fe(CO)5 and norbornadiene, with the observation of some intermediates. - the substitution of the carbonyls of carbonylic compounds of transition metaIs of the VIB groups by dienes. - the photofragmentation of W(CO)6. The photofragmentation reaction of Fe(CO)5 was also studied by Moessbauer spectroscopy using LDPE matrices. By comparing the results obtained in this work with those reported in the literature for low-temperature frozen gas matrices. it is concluded that the polymer matrix technique could in some cases, substitute for these techniques with advantage.
