Pigmentos minerais "in natura" e sua aplicação nas artes plasticas no Brasil : um recorte

RESUMO
Natural mineral pigments, constituted mainly by clay minerais, were collected and used by the author in his artistical work. They were studied and their mineralogical and chemical composition was charaterized. The geographicallocation of the collection of the pigments is described. A relate of the historical use of natural mineral pigments is mode as well as their use in artistical expression. Some Brazilian contemporary plastic artists who used or the some kind of pigments in their work were interviewed. The artistical work was accomplished considering the properties of the pigments when mixed with the kinding medium and the result of the application on different supports like wood, paper, iron were tested. The differents mediuns were tested and the Poly (vynil alcohol) demonstred best results. We emphasize the importance of this study and the application of the obtained results with the natural mineral pigments, since these materiais can be valuable when used in artistical work for its symbolism as pictorical expression, the easy access to them and their low price
