RESUMO

Outsourcing, or process of transferring activities to third parties, is a practice that has been used for a long time and it is becoming more often a common practice. This is also true in the Information Technology area, ever since computers have been introduced into organizations. There are many reasons that lead the organizations to the partial or total outsourcing of their activities and services, where many of them are associated to cutting costs, quality improvement and focus on the organizations core activities. Some economic theories support the outsourcing decisions on the part of the organizations, especially transaction costs economics. This Dissertation is intended to evaluate based on the existing literature on the subject, what are the factors that influence in the choice of the strategy of the outsourcing decision. The hypotheses arose by the bibliography and the author, are collated with the research carried out in a sample composed by 60 financial institutions of small and medium size in Brazil. On the data from the sample, classification and tabulation had been applied, which allow to conclude the satisfaction of these organizations concerning the outsourcing processes. The choice of outsourcing as an administration model will depend basically on the companys objectives regarding its growth, on the enterprise culture and finally, on the capacities and the abilities of its managers to innovate and to run risks. Moreover, results and additional conclusions about the responsible ones for the outsourcing process, for the outsourcing budget, for the amount and variety of outsourced services and, still, about the satisfaction with the results obtained through outsourcing and the factors that motivate or inhibit this process, are presented
