RESUMO

This work graphically analyses the processes of consciousness of six public university professors, with the aim of apprehending the consequences of emotional mediations in their psychological and professional activities. Emphasis is laid on the dynamics of relations between the objective characteristics of the institutional reality and the socials interactions established, with the individual subjective necessities presented in the affective emotional elements constituting activities objects and relations promoted and realized by them. The analyses of the discourses highlighted the fact that the identites of the professors oscillate between their self recognition as professors or their negation. This condition is determined by the social valorization received, either by their professional formation received or via the recognition of the products of their work. But it is understood that they become professors once they join the university. Hence they merel) recognize themselves as professores of the "University" and, differentiated from the other professors. Once they become "university professors" the movements of identities gain specific characterists in function of individual motivations they seek satisfaction in this context. The meaning of their profesional actiivites and the relations establihed within society in general, are determined subjectively and differentiate the signification and attribution of values given to profesional activities, personal relations and representations of the University constructed by society. Power is seeked after for the appropriation of means specific to the political context of the University that can be used, for action and specifically affective action
