RESUMO

This dissertation aimed to develop a critical assessment and conceptual speculation over the urban transformations that have recently occurred in the territory, caused by economic relations transformation due to the newest internationalization stage of Capitalism. The assessment chose the RMGV Greater Vitória Metropolitan Region as a case study to analyze the urban dynamics resulting from the interface between the local territory and the production and commerce fields related to the international economy. The research focused the territory dynamic process, the local impacts of globalized economy, and the role played by the State in the present management of cities. Finally, it concluded that is important to the State to be autonomous, in order to guarantee the gains of growth not to be restricted only to big enterprises production sector, but to reach all the territory, causing benefits to the whole society.
