RESUMO
Oral lymphomas: reclassification and characterization of the dendritic cell The aim of this study was to evaluate and reclassificate oral lymphomas in accordance with WHO-2001. Forty-six oral lymphomas were included in the study. Clinical data, hematoxylin and eosin patterns were considered. The tumors were then submitted to immunohistochemical for unophenotype and characterize the dendritic cell, to in situ hybridization for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and to polymerase chain reaction for confirmation of the monoclonality in the B cell lymphoid neoplasm. The oral lymphomas were more frequent in white males. Mature B cell lymphoid neoplasm was the commonest lesion in these patients (91.3%). The age of the patients varied in the different histological types. The oral lymphomas were mainly found in oral soft tissue, except the Burkitts lymphoma, that was localized more frequently in the mandible. CD20/CD79a and CD45RO/CD3 antibodies were typically expressed in all cases of the mature B cell lymphoid neoplasm and mature T cell and NK cell lymphoid neoplasm, respectively. Epstein-Barr virus was present in diffuse large B cell lymphoma, plasmablastic subtype, in the Burkitts lymphoma and in the extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma, nasal type.
