RESUMO

This work is to examine ways of organizing production and environmental consequences triggered in the ownership of natural resources. Thus, the issue now proposed: The Use of Natural Resources in the Family Agriculture Rural Settlements in the Semi-arid Alagoano led to the interest of analyzing the environment dynamic of rural areas, limited to the region of Xingà in semi-arid region in sub - Average San Francisco, with a focus on land reform settlement. Specifically aimed to: discuss the sustainability of production systems in rural settlements, the main problems, causes and environmental effects in production systems, and discuss the practices / actions affect the sustainability of the production system of the settlement, analyzing the results of interventions in the systems production by public policies and the practices used by settlers. As reference it was theoretical contributions of: Altieri (1989); Bergamasco (2003); Cavalcanti (1994); Diegues (1995-2000); Gliessman (2005), Leff (1998-2001), Vieira and Weber (2002); Villasante Y Garrido (2002); Wanderley (1996.1998, 2004). As the methodology used to the participatory approach and qualitative approach, an interactional work, where the whole process, the parties are active subjects and reflective. The work was executed in three steps: the first refers to the collection of data, include the field research through direct observation and participant observation. In the second, devoted to the planning and preparation activities for the implementation of participative workshops, with their objectives, as well as interviews. In the third, included is the analysis and discussion of the data obtained. This research is part of the group Environmental Management and Sustainability in the semi-arid, developed by the Postgraduate Program in Development and Environment of UFPE, with intent to analyze the sustainability in the region of Xing. The Final reflect on the sustainability of natural resources in agriculture, family and key point for discussion of public policy in agricultural sector. Mainly discusses alternatives to the sustainability of family farming, and in exploring the form of ownership of natural resources, focusing on streamlining the use of these resources, noting the real needs of rural settlement.
