RESUMO

Theoretical study on the philosophical-cognitive process of reading and interpreting ideological information transmitted by political cartoons. The research comprised some semiological theories, discussing certain psychological positions of perception and phenomenological, notably Sartre, of conscious transcendence and pointing out a practical analysis of how some cartoonists. Through interviews , produce this element of information , cartoons, and how readers read and interpret them. The initial hypothesis took into consideration that the stance an Ordinary person takes in his society and his consequent transformation into a citizen, a political being,is a direct function of the ability this person has to keep informed and, through this, gains political awareness. Ideologial information, latu sensu, is information contributing to up bringing , and this political cartoons are powerful instruments relatedto the production, transmission and reproduction of information and the political meaning of social acts and facts. The discursive clash between the communicating and interpreting beings, both producers of a social meaning, demonstrated the importance ofthe mental representation dreamed up by the information flow, notably in the post-War period.
