RESUMO

To treat the environment considering the ways and the resources exploration models, is one of the principal commitments that man has when he thinks in developing a productive activity. Being like this, the accomplished study concentrates in describing informations that can bring subjects related to the development of pig breeding in the West of Santa Catarina State. This study describes technical and statistic data related to cattle raising exploration which is the type of business that defines the present development model of the West Region. In consequence, the factor of treatment and handling in the activity of pig breeding is studied with the purpose of knowing how this factor affects the final work quality, the quality of meet to be consumed. Through this study, subjects on animal suffering are showed under an ethical point of view, searching an indication for the correct way of creating it without prejudices to its life quality and upsets for the farmer. The accomplished study had, as its principal objective, to think about the correct destiny of the dejections created in the exploration of this kind of production. Intending to reduce environmental impacts and, at the same time, give a new work opportunity to the regional farmer, the study also presents some informations related to the exploration practice and use of renewable energies. This allowed that if he could know each possible type of renewable energy and your application and use for the farmer giving to this a new work opportunity, much less degasser to this and with much more attractive results than the developed current practice. The research accomplished with the farmers is presented in the final phase of this study. Through this research, the knowledge of these farmers about the work practice in pig breeding was investigated and were collected possible cases of future interest in implanting a new type of activity in their rural properties
